Just got my Hifiman 4XXs in--no burn in, right out of the box: really bad news for everyone that bought the 6XXs! The 4XX beat the crap out of the Sennheisers--no contest!

RayFYeah, the Hifiman 4XX sound is more detailed and has a tad more bass presence. If you compare the HD6XX and the 4XX side by side you will definitely notice the differences. I actually like both, there are music genres that I like the HD6XX more than on the 4XX. Some songs will sound too treble peaky thats when I reach for my HD6XX. I ike variety and have others HPs (Hifiman Sundara, Fostex THX00 Ebonies, and the E-MU Teaks) that I listen to every now and then otherwise I would get bored, but thats me :)

ArtifizDefinitely prefer the 6XXs for comfort and built quality. Also the prefer the cable length on the 6XXs. The cable on the 4XX is just too damn short, even for listening at my desk.

RayFYou're certainly entitled to your opinion. The HD6XX is neither the most detailed or the most exciting headphone, but I love them because they have a tonality and coherence only matched by TOTL headphones like the Focal Utopia or Hifiman Susvara. Combined with their smooth treble and slow decay, makes them an intimate and enjoyable listen even at 8+ hours a day.
