Got mine in today! Emotiva BasX A-100 powers these babies really well, at 12 o'clock in normal output mote, but I installed the jumpers and have it outputting full power, 1.3W per channel at 300ohms, can't go past 9 o'clock this way. Bass is much tighter than my Sony MDR-Z7. Those will be my strictly commuting headphones and HD6XX my home headphones. Tried these with my Fiio Q1 Mark II, powers them well enough but has to be maxed out, maybe one day I'll make a 2.5mm balanced cable for these.

YuriyParanyukTalk more if u will.... bout the HD6XX vs MDR-Z7. Have the Z7's and agree the bass is loose, at least compared to my hd580's but they're bass light imo. My he400i's have more low end than hd580 but less than Z7 and tighter. Z7 is efficient though, great for portability. Never heard hd 650 though. Tia

BarneyrubbleThe Z7's were my first pair of really nice headphones, got them a few months ago so can't compare too much to others, and I don't have the best ears to pick up differences.. I was just doing some A-B testing and the 6XX sound more open (obviously), the bass is a tighter and the highs are sharper I'd say but not tiring. The Z7's sometimes sound a bit muffled compared to 6XX's, I think that's mostly because Z7s are more bass heavy and that muffles the mids maybe? Imaging sounds somewhat better on 6XX's to me. I am honestly satisfied with both of them and they have two different jobs for me, one for commuting/portable use, and the other for home use and for video games. I built a 2.5mm balanced cable for my Z7s for Fiio Q1 II and that tightened up the bass a little, but it's hard to use Z7s with Emotiva A-100 since the amp has a higher noise floor and Z7 picks up all of it, so the background noise is heard during silent parts of audio. All in all both are awesome, I love my bass, hence I love Z7s, and 6XX's are great for home use. At this point Z7's are much more comfortable than 6XXs, and they were comfortable from day 1, the pads on Z7s are super nice and soft, 6XXs have rougher pads and the clamp is still pretty stiff, but that will change over the next few weeks.
