Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I would check out Z Reviews, and/or DMS3TV on Youtube as both have done reviews of the HD6XX, and I believe, the Jay's Take channel, has a brief "how much amp do you need for the 6xx" video, and the Schiit Fulla 2 is powerful enough to drive it competently.
However, the HD600-series seems to scale well with more powerful amps by all accounts.
*I don't own the 6XX yet, but I do have a few Amps that from the research I've done should be okay. So, I don't have personal experience, but I definitely encourage you to do some reading and watching for yourself.
It really depends what you'd like to do. The hobby is such that you can go as crazy as you want and/or as your budget allows. Sound is very subjective after all. I don't want to tell you absolutely go for a product I've never touched to power another one I don't have yet lol. But I can give you options.
The HD600 Series seems to like balanced as well. Which can be done via 4-pin XLR like on the Schiit Jotunheim, or 2.5mm TRRS like on the Fiio Q1 Mark II.
Again, I don't have personal experience, but I do recommend watching some videos, etc. yourself to make your own decisions. I've heard good things about the Sanskrit 6th Gen DAC from SMSL, and the Modi 2 Uber from Schiit, as well as the Aune X1s, which is the reason I joined that drop. I'm hoping the Anniversary Edition of the X1s has enough extra power for the 6XX.
If you have a local store that would let you try some 650's, especially on some different setups, or a friend with those things, that would be the ideal way to learn what sounds best to you. I would generally say go about cheaper than the D1's retail price for a first time Amp/DAC just because you don't know if it will be powerful enough for the 6XX's, though it looks like it'll be enough for most other headphones.
Sorry man, it's late and I'm sorta rambling. I'm sure someone else will chime in and let us both know whats up. Good luck
It's only rambling if the info's useless, so really, your not rambling :)
The D1 can output about 12mW at 500 ohms, which is short of the HD6XX's requirement of 63mW at 500 ohms, but it's probably fine for pop. You should be able to get enough volume with most music, but it will distort a bit with well recorded ones.
