proto_keyswhen i click transactions in my massdrop account it still shows the Aug 31st date? i have received the email about the new date tho it doesn't seem to be registering in my massdrop account
TomcopterIt won't update until there's a shipping label. Actually I'm not sure if it ever updates. I think it just goes into "Shipped on xx" like my screenie above shows. I can't remember if it ever gives an estimated arrival.
PorchSongIs it shipping Ground? Also curious what state they are shipping from.
Guess I'm anxious to know how long it will take to arrive, once it actually ships.
Toothless_SnakeHa - noticed your other comment after I replied above - congrats! I actually bought a pair of the HiFiMan 4XX a couple weeks ago to hold me over. They're fantastic, but I cannot wait to take these 6XX cans for a spin.
c4tm4nblu3I very much enjoy my 6xx's more than the 4xx's. Luckily (I guess) my 4xx's had a manufacturing defect so I was able to return them.
The 6xx's just have much better mids and are less hollow in general. Look forward to it.
c4tm4nblu3You should enjoy both. I personally really enjoy the HFM 4XX much better. The 6XX are quite comfortable yet have a very subdued sound, in fact I think they don't sound great unless turned to very high volume. It's a well discussed issue that they need a strong power source to drive them properly and I believe this impacts their performance at lower volumes. In my opinion the 4XX is tough to beat for an budget/entry level headphone. You may have a completely different experience though, because much depends on the synergy between headphone and other components. My current set up is PC>Eitr>Bimby> then to either the LCX, CTH, or the Jotunheim, and the LCX has gotten most of the play time since it's arrival. My above experience with these two sets of cans seem to be consistent regardless of which of these three amps are used.
mfletchInteresting - thanks for the feedback. I figure I'm in good shape either way - I love the 4XX's. At this general price point, if the 6XX's don't surpass them for me, I'll happily live with the HFM's. I'm in the process now of figuring out what amp/dac I want to get. I'm just running my 4XX's from my phone/PC and using a little Fiio A3. With either of these headphones I want a more robust amp/dac combo or stack to bring out their full potential. From your comments (and many others), it sounds like the 6XX's will benefit more from that than the 4XX's.
All I know for sure at this point is that I'm spending way too much money on audio gear and knives on this damn site. :D
c4tm4nblu3I have both headphones. I have two DACs: Fiio E10K and ifi micro black label. Both work well; $75.00 verses $599.00, I prefer the ifi. I was so impressed with HFM 4xx, I purchased the HiFiMan HE-560 Headphone. I did not notice enough improvement over the HFM 4xx, so I returned the HE-560. Then I purchased the HFM Edition X from HFM's Ebay store for $799.00 on sale. I'm almost through burning them in for 150 hours using the ifi amp. The Edition X blows away any headphone I own. For travel, I use the Fiio amp with Audeze closed back Sine. I believe the Sine is the best portable headphone I have heard. I also own the Audeze EL-8 closed back. Those are incredible too. I prefer the open back design for home listening and the lower weight of the HFM Edition X gets my vote.
shiphereThose (Edition X/ifi DAC) are some good sounding targets for when I upgrade down the road. Given how the 4xx's perform, I can only imagine the Edition X's if they're that much better.
Sounds like you have a very well-rounded assortment of gear for home and on-the-go.
proto_keysGreat to hear. Im going to do a ton of comparing between the 6xx and 598 im using. See if there is a hug3 difference. I guess leave a small review on this product
