How would you rate these against noise cancelling options such as the Sony WH-1000M2? I am debating what to do as I would like an allround set of headphones that I can use on my travels as well as around town, but I don't want to lose out on quality for noise cancellation? Or should I treat these as separate and just save the money for a set of noise cancelling headphones after I buy something similar to these? Thoughts anyone?

Stevep81 I have both of them but this ( hd 6xx) is open back headphone so you can hear sounds on around of you and they can hear your music, if you want a good sound choose this, if you want to isolation choose wh1000xm2 , but don't forget you can't use the 6xx on the outside :) .

Stevep81I've got the xm3 which from my understanding has better sound quality across the board compared to the xm2. But it is no match against the HD6XX, actually very few headphones are. The HD6XX is more transparent, more resolving, more... Everything. The xm3 is a very good headphone for travelling and convenience and much better sounding than its main competitor the QC35, but if I'm not traveling there's no reason I would pick the Sony over the Senn for music.
