I have the Philips SHP9500s and was considering buying the 6xxs. I enjoy the sound of the Philips, but was looking for something with a bit more bass and/or sub-bass. I was also looking at the TR-X00s, but don't really want to spend that much.
Could someone help?

PatrickMIf you don't already have a DAC/amp, consider getting the FiiO Q1 mkII, which has a built-in Bass Boost switch and battery. It has served me well at home and while I'm on-the-go with my iPhone (cable included).

PatrickMIf you're looking for bass, the 6XX is not it. They are the best with mid range focused music (rock, classical, jazz, etc). While expensive, the Fostex are going to give you the bass and sub-bass presence and impact you're looking for. The Ebonies are the most neutral, the Purpleheart the most bassy, and the Mahogany are somewhere in the middle of those two. I opted for the Ebony's and couldn't be happier.

PatrickMSince you're not wanting to spend that much, the Fostex TR-X00 might be pushing your budget.
The headphones I would recommend are the absolutely superb-sounding BossHifi B8 with Brainwavz XL MicroSuede pads installed. Other pads from Brainwavz' XL line offer more bass (Sheepskin Leather) or a bigger soundstage (Perforated Pleather). But since you're looking for a bassier experience, I'd recommend the MicroSuede pads.
If you prefer to buy from a Amazon-fulfilled seller, the nearly-identical-looking Sivga SV006 headphones (https://www.amazon.com/Freegoing-Headphones-Powerful-Headset-Tablets/dp/B01N53QTD4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1544569628&sr=8-2&keywords=Sivga+SV006) can substitute. Compared to the B8, the SV006 has a tighter clamp, smaller soundstage, and slightly more bass and treble.
Compared to the Fostex TR-X00, the SV006 or B8 with Brainwavz XL pads, would be lighter, more comfortable (fully-around-ear design), and have a standard, single-sided, 3.5mm cable connection - not a proprietary double-sided connection. Plus, you'd save $300+. With the savings, I recommend purchasing a DAC/amp (like the FiiO I mentioned)... if you don't already have one, of course.

PatrickMI have all three, HD6xx, TH-x00 Mahogany and SHP9500, and the 6xx get ALL the listening time! Compared to the 6xx, the 9500 sound thin and airy. I find the 6xx better in every way compared to the 9500, including the low end department!
I just listened some Deadmau5 on both and the 6xx sound fantastic, won't speak for anyone else, but the low end is MORE than enough for me! I had very low expectations about the bass of the 6xx based on the opinions and reviews I read online prior to purchase and as a result was pleasantly surprised by the low end of the 6xx honestly, guess many of those people were expecting, of prefer bass-head levels of, ahem ...bass.
The TH-x00 definitely have more bass/sub-bass, but it's not like the 6xx can't hold their own and are a more pleasant, complete and balanced package
There is no comparison in my book between the smooth, warm sound signature of the HD6xx and the extremely v-shaped sound of the TH-x00! After listening to the 6xx, I find the TH-x00 downright unusable because of the shrill highs, I think I'm what some call "treble sensitive". Overall, I find the TH-x00 to be very fatiguing.
As a result the TH-x00 will go for sale.
The AMP I use is the Little Dot MKII with GE JAN 5654W tubes.
All of the above are my honest opinions and I have nothing to gain by trying to steer you one way or another, I'm being honest with myself first of all and hopefully some of the above comparison can help your decision!
I really like the 6xx and I doubt I'll be looking for any other headphone any time soon!
