Can someone please compare these with the he350's that Massdrop sold a while back. I like the 350 but the sharpness in the highs and bass are areas that I want improved. These seem like they may bring many improvements plus the ones I am looking for. Please don't just say they are better, explain why you think that.

LymaundIn my opinion the HD650 has better details, way less fatiguing and the soundstage is more accurate and large.

LymaundIf you hate sharp highs the hd6xx could be for you. I haven't heard the he350, but just looking at the frequency response measurements they have some very pronounced treble while being linear overall. The hd650 is known for having a linear smooth midbass and midrange centric frequency response. No treble spikes and they are very detailed.
Not sure what you mean by bass improvement. You may need to be more specific as to what kind of improvement you are looking for. Do you want the bass to be louder overall? More subbass? Midbass? Better quality bass?
If you like most of the he350 sound and you don't want to spend so much more money, a few mods might be able to make the he350 sound more like what you want. Toilet paper is great for reducing treble. Just remove the pads on the 350, add a circle of 1-2ply, put the pads back on over top. That by itself should reduce the treble by a few decibels and smooth out the Peaks, but you can add more or less to preference. You can always experiment with other materials that will do the job, but toilet paper is cheap and proven effective.
As for the he350 bass? Do they use the all velour pads? Velour pads leak out bass, if you want more bass and comfort without affecting the rest of the sound too much try switching to the hifiman focus-a pads. Also wrapping the outside of the velour pads with electric tape can also help with the bass though not as well and comfort may suffer depending on how you apply the tape.
Or... If you don't care for modding, the hd650 is also a good bet. Just keep in mind that while they have a more than neutral midbass and much smoother treble, they are still neutral toned overall, and so will not have boosted subbass if that is what you are looking for. Maybe try the Fidelio x2 or bass modded k7xx. It all just depends on what sound you are looking for.

LymaundI got both HD650 and HE350 and what @SeT9 and @dieslow said is very accurate. I can confirm that. I am not a basshead but after undergoing the under-the-bonnet-stickers "bass mod", I am happy with the bass response of HE350.
And if you love HE350, you may find HD650 boring as it is so smooth. I listen to jazz, metal, and pop, and I love how HD650 presents vocals, and the imaging of different sounds in live records. However, I sometimes found HD650 presenting instrumental jazz in a smooth manner - so smooth that it is a bit unexciting / laid-back.

SeT9Thanks for the reply, I have replaced my pads already which helped with the bass and the treble a bit. What I'm looking for is to know how the bass compares as far as extension(subbass) , control, and detail. I've tried the mods on the he350's and found that just the brainwaves alone gives me a signature I can deal with. Being my first open set, I love the sound stage and want to see how that goes up market. The 6xx seem like a steal for this purpose.

cheapladWould you consider their sound signatures similar? I don't want to buy it for the same sound just a bit better.

LymaundThe whole of the hd650 frequency range i would describe as warm, smooth, and textured. It has a lot of little details. Just know that the slight bass boost this headphone does have is centered at 100hz. So think super tight punch, kick, growl, and less deep rumble. From when I tried it out I know it could handle almost all my music, and it hits pretty solid at least down to 40hz. After that it starts to lose volume the deeper you go like most open headphones. The only time I missed it was on certain very deep bass electronic songs. Any other application it handled no problem.
Some alternative deep bass open headphones would be the he560 or k7xx(bass mod).

SeT9Perfect. Thank you. I think I will hold off until I can try them out against other open phones. Hope these will still be dropping at this great price.

LymaundJust in case you does not aware much about the impedance. I use Chord Mojo and in HE350 (19 ohm) I listen in volume output at "Red" Level (volume = 41). To achieve the comparable loudness in HD650 (300 ohm), I need to turn the amp to "Spring Green" Level (volume = 56) or even higher.
I have found the bass of HE350 (with "bass mod") more present. HD650's bass is more subtle (maybe it is what @SeT9 said about "tight"?)
