For all of the people that didn't make it in time, feel free to go to amazon and purchase a set of real HD650's. They have them for sale for $337 with free 2-day prime shipping. The gray color looks better, and it doesn't have the silly massdrop logo or 6XX on it.

Ap3xThanks for the link! I don't think people realize that they can actually get the real deal by Friday at the latest instead of waiting until Christmas for these wannabe 650's.

ShottieI actually own a pair of HD650 but prefer the stealthier look of the HD6XX instead.
Either way you can't go wrong with HD650, it's one of the best headphone available still.

ShottieGot the 598SE's currently but have been eyeing up 650's since for ever but was always put off by the price, for £250 which is still a lot of money i am very tempted to get a pair and sell my 598SE's and PC350SE's (which should fund a part of them :D )

ShottieI think the issue is that most likely realize that they can get the real deal by Friday but they also realize its $137.96 more for something that performs similar to these wannabe 650s (if you trust the reviews that is)

paglamiaHopefully people are also aware that they need to amplify these cans. They're 300ohm. They need some sort of power source. It's not like they can spend 200 and be blown away by the sound quality here. At least another $200-$300 needs to be invested in order to get anything out of them.
Do people not do any research!? Not you specifically, just people in general.

ShottieI'm thinking the lure and reasoning for so many trying to get THIS deal is the fact that (although it's a rebadged version of the HD650) the $199.99 price makes it more than worth both the wait and the effort to get them. Frustration and anticipation be damned.

OrangesYes, the real deal. They have HD650 labels on them, and on the box. They're not labeled with MASSDROP and HD6XX on them.
Until the HD6XX have HD650 labels on them, they are not the real deal. Sorry.

OrangesIKR, people are so butthurt they can't help but toss out sour grapes. If they were going to be lessers 650s they would be labeled as 651, 650+, or 650 something edition, and not 6XX.

Wood1030I get the allure for this drop. They believe they're getting genuine 650's for a crazy good deal. There's a guy at the local gas station that will sell me a rolex for ten dollars, too. Except in this case, these aren't even labeled as the real deal. They're called HD6XX's. If they were actually 650's, they would be marked as such. At least the fake rolex for ten dollars says "Rolex" on it.

OrangesI didn't say Sennheiser wasn't manufacturing them. I'm saying they're not legit 650's, otherwise they would be labeled as such. If you think Sennheiser would sell guinine 650's for $200 then what does that make you?

ShottieAs far as I'm concerned, they are 650s. Nearly identical frequency response, same nominal impedance, same weight, equal THD, and they're made in Ireland. Sure it won't say HD650 on the side, but I can live with that. It's a Sennheiser product, I'm sure it will perform excellently.

ZatarotI've said time and time again, they're not 650's. Otherwise they would say 650. And they would be more expensive. Obviously Sennheiser makes them. I didn't say they didn't.
Look at massdrop as a whole. Almost all of their deals are about ten-25 dollars cheaper than Amazon at any lowest drop. Some of them don't even beat Amazon. Do you honestly think Massdrop and Sennheiser would sell HD650's for $200? We're talking their old flagship model for 50 bucks more than HD598's and 60 bucks cheaper than HD600's.
There's no way. Something is up with these. Right now it's all hype. Once people get their cans in and tear them down we will find out the truth behind them. No way they're legit rebranded 650's. Corners had to be cut somewhere.

Nov 8, 2016
SwiftySoulThey may be real Sennheisers, but they're certainly not real HD650's. If you want 650's, you'll need to follow the amazon link provided at the top of the page and you'll need to pay the full price. Until then, you can continue to tell yourself "I paid $200 for the real thing" and the smart people here will know you paid for a lesser product. They're HD6XX's, NOT HD650's. Sorry, kiddo.

ShottieLol you are a straight up fool. Still thinking that these aren't hd650. you do realize they changed the color which was probably cheaper. The cord is longer And the terminate is different. Also do you have any idea how bulk orders work? They also aren't paying to keep inventory in their warehouse.
stop being a fool cause you look like an idiot by telling people to go on Amazon to buy these headphones.

OrangesI'm actually telling people to go to Amazon to buy the REAL HD650's, not these wannabe knockoffs.
Again, look at any other mass drop colaboration. Especially the Hifiman 350's. They were a remake of the highly coveted 300's and do you see what happened? They're absolute garbage. People hate them. They're dank, cheap, knock off hifimans. There's plenty of reviews about it, look it up.
Both Sennheiser and Massdrop are in this to make money. There is absolutely no way they can R&D a brand new color, shorter cable, connectors, boxing, badges, etchings etc and still make a profit at $200. It's not happening. These are knockoff HD650's. They're definitely Sennheisers, but they're between a HD598 and an HD600.
Until an official Sennheiser rep shows up and proves me wrong and gives an official statement with evidence showing the assembly process, then I'm going to keep singing the same tune. Hell, even earlier someone pointed out that they don't even have the same frequency response range (a point they were trying to use to indicate they were 650's I might add). Explain that to me. If they're real HD650's then why is the range different?
You are such a sheep, it's pitiful. You need to wake up. These companies don't give a damn about you. They're in this to make money. Go look at every other drop on the front page for the last month and tell me the profit margin between massdrop and Amazon. It's a common pattern. Massdrop might be ten bucks cheaper than amazon, but you have to wait four months to get the product. Did you not see what happened with IE80's they had for sale? The "lowest drop" was "224.99" - and then amazon lowered their price - suddenly massdrop had a new lowest drop price of 214.99. WTF dude! lol. Do you not see what they're doing?
I'll pretend you're not a god damn monkey and you're capable of listening for just a moment. Now aftear learning what you just did, do you honestly believe they would sell legitimate HD650's for $200 when they sell for $340? Don't be retarded. Think logically.
There you go.

ShottieI currently own Bose QC25s, which have been amazing headphones to me. But not its time to move up. When these headphones redrop I will be buying them and an amp, for the first time. I want whatever amp I get to really stand out on my desk though. Do you guys know any amps that have LEDs like the Garage1217 ones? I'm going to get one of those if I can't find any others.

ShottieSennheiser say these are real, but modified. I can’t get my head around why Sennheiser would bother, but their reply to my email was: “These are real headphones as previously MASSDROP and Sennheiser have collaborated in the past to create a HD 650 with minor differences.”
