Just got my monitor on Monday and finally got to use it last night. Zero dead pixels and no problems booting into windows using DP. I agree that the included cable is pretty short and I would urge Massdrop to include a 6' cable in subsequent drops. Fortunately, I had another DP cable lying around from a previous monitor which was long enough to reach my computer below my desk. Overall, it's a phenomenal monitor and I'm really pleased that I didn't spend 2.5x as much on a PG348Q. Thanks Massdrop!
Some quick notes which might help others with similar questions:
- I'm in Quebec and the monitor arrived by CanadaPost. The cod amount was $46 CAD. (This is in addition to $50 USD for shipping)
- I tried the Toms Hardware calibrations noted elsewhere in the discussion, but ended up tweaking them further since their values didn't look quite right to my eye. Each monitor is going to be slightly different so YMMV. Fortunately, I had a Spyder-calibrated rMBP to compare against and once you set everything correctly the colors really pop.
- Movies look great in 21:9, although some films (looking at you Interstellar) have hard-coded letterboxing because of the IMAX scenes and will show letterboxing on top, bottom, and sides (ew). If you're using an Nvidia card like I am, you may notice that the black levels initially look like garbage in VLC or other video players. Look up "Nvidia limited RGB" and you'll see that modern Nvidia cards default to displaying a 16-235 color range in RGB. You should override this in your Nvidia control panel because this monitor has incredible black levels!
- This monitor is hard to drive! I knew this intuitively, but it was only once I started testing games that I really realized how much harder it is to drive than my old 1080p monitor. I have a 980 Ti and I have to turn down some settings in almost all of my games (besides Rocket League) to get them to run in the 60-100fps range. Stupid crypto-miners...
- I have the monitor mounted on an ergo arm and it is light enough without the stand to stay in place and adjust without sagging. EDIT: Initially I thought that the plastic cover on the back needed to be removed for mounting, but it can be detached from the monitor stand and reattached to the back. See my reply. - On a completely black screen in a dark room, I do notice a few brighter spots towards the edges of the monitor which appear to be slight backlight bleed. They're far more subtle than any screenshots I've seen and I don't even notice them unless I stare at the screen and let my eyes adjust. Note that backlight bleed is NOT the same as VA glow which is an inherent quality of both VA and IPS panels. If you move your head too far to the side you will notice a subtle glow which seems to emanate diagonally out from the screen. This is perfectly normal and the reason why the monitor is curved.

Anthodesro$161! That's crazy.
Also a quick update on VESA mounting: I checked it again. If you look at the inside of the plastic panel, there are 4 additional screws holding it to the stand with another metal plate inside for reinforcing. By removing the stand, I was able to replace the plastic panel on the back of the monitor and mount it on the arm again. Now the thumbscrews are the correct length as well, so lucky I hadn't ordered new ones yet!
@YanboWu It would be really nice to have instructions for VESA mounting the monitor either on the site or in the included manual.
