This update is for members who joined the drop in February (Feb 6- Feb 28):
Hi everyone,
Good news! We’re excited to announce that your Massdrop Vast 35-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor has arrived at the warehouse and we’re planning on sending it out a bit early. We estimate that the monitors will ship by next Wednesday (June 20).
We’re looking forward to you receiving the Vast Monitor!
AveryCAny word on possible future drop for the vast and a relative timeframe? Like the next drop will happen july and take four months to ship for example? Or are we looking at a drop in 2019, if ever?
John__wInitial impressions are mostly positive. I've been using a Samsung 27" curved monitor (C27H711) for the past year, and compared to that the Vast seems to have a broader color range. For instance, explosions while playing DOOM just have a LOT more color to them. It's similar to how I remember feeling the first time I watched some HDR content. I'm pretty sure they're both 8-bit color screens so I'm not sure why that's the case, maybe just the difference in contrast or something? It's also 100hz vs 75hz, though I'm using a GTX 1070 so I've got Geforce's "fast" sync enabled instead of freesync, but it seems to work well enough.
I absolutely *love* the ultrawide profile, I love being able to have more content on the desktop. I'm a data engineer and do a lot of coding, and being able to have more content on a single screen is a big win for me. I do notice a slight performance hit with my 1070 in PUBG and DOOM, and I'm annoyed to discover StarCraft 2 doesn't support the 21:9 aspect ratio.
In terms of build quality, the monitor does feel a little flimsy to me. The stand feels like plastic, and there's quite a bit of wobble. On my particular one, the monitor isn't quite straight in regards to the stand. By that I mean if the stand is centered on me, the monitor is slightly skewed to the left. Not a huge deal and it's slight enough that you don't notice it unless you're specifically checking, but still there. There's also a decent amount of backlight bleed, which is only noticeable on a fully black screen. I haven't once noticed it while using the thing, only when my PC is shutting down and the screen goes dark. Literally ever other LCD monitor I've used has at least the same amount, and it's not troubling enough for me to try for one that doesn't. My main TV is an LG OLED display so I'm a little spoiled there in terms of black levels.
All in all, very pleased.
arrogantyeti101Awesome review. It gets me pumped up to hear such great things! The stand might have the fix listed in the comments by YanboWu i believe.
shadowkreepYes, I finally have! I need to write up a review. I vastly underestimated the size of this thing, which is fun. Overall, I love it! No issues with backlight bleed. Contract and colors look great, and I was able to overclocked mine to 117 hz. Here's a picture for reference next to my old 24 inch 144hz monitor.
John__wDude thats awesome. I love hearing good reviews about it. I get so hyped up aaiting for mine! I know you were with me everytime i commented looking for answers lol so im glad youre loving it
shadowkreepLol! My only complaint is two fold:
1. The lack of feedback and updates from Massdrop
2. There is a little bit of blur in deep blacks when playing fast-paced games, but bumping up the brightness a few ticks totally fixed the issue.
All in all, I feel like this thing is a steal for the money. Would buy again.

It's like I can see around corners in online shooters!!
Edit - you should also know that the cable provided was short (like 3-4 feet), so if your PC is far away you may want to proactively pick up a longer one.
shadowkreepIm positive the vesa will fit. It supports 100x100, and 75x75 which are the standards.
also you will be super hard pressed to find a monitor stand that will list itself as supporting higher than 27”, even though it definitely will.
AveryCWhat's with the deafening silence, Massdrop?
3 days until ship date and not a single update in 5 weeks. All I want to know is that everything is on track for the 19th. A little communication goes a long way, you know?
Cam_RobertDude im totally with you. Its almost upsetting how poorly they are handling updates and all that. I just want to point out, though, that you said "deafening silence" and it doesnt make sense lol
Cam_RobertI've gone this far in life and have never heard it lol. Well hopefully we get that surprise shipping notification. I always love when that happens.
shadowkreepwell, I'm going away in 1 week so I'd really like to have mine shipped/delivered before. I'd hate to have it delivered at the neighbours as it's going to be quite a large parcel...
shadowkreep@Le_zOU@shadowkreep - Sorry for the delayed update.
These monitors have begun shipping today! It sounds like the team is working to get them all out, but that there was a delay in receiving a part of the order so some units may trickle out over the next few days. We'll let you know if we get any more specific updates on timing.
We messed up on updates on this drop (massdrop made drops should all have ~3 updates during the drop to keep you in the loop), and we're working on fixing the issue that came up so we don't miss updates again.
bradrIs there a reason that you still didn't post an actual update, but rather replied midway down a comment chain? This didn't go out as an email to the buyers of the drop, like updates usually do - I had to grumpily come look to see if there was any news.
sphanleyHey - yes, the official update was just emailed out. As you said, it should have been emailed to everyone (about a week ago) like normal massdrop made drops, but it fell through our process.
I followed up with our team to get the full update and get it sent out, and to help make sure this delayed update doesn’t happen again. Sorry again for the delayed communication.

entirely metal, and heavy duty as hell.
