I was hesitant to make this purchase based on what I read about the "Batman" back-light bleed. Let me just say that it definitely suffers from this. It has the worst back-light bleed I have ever seen. On most monitors , you see it here and there. Maybe in the corners, or a corner. This bleed is everywhere. I thought the whole "Batman" thing was funny, but it is no joke. The image quality on this is pretty good. Not IPS good, but more than adequate for gaming and light movie watching. I do see a fair bit of ghosting when scrolling through dark web pages. The back-light bleed on this is pretty bad. I was surprised at just how pronounced it is. You cannot miss it when you are watching something dark. I like the size of the thing, the performance is "ok" for the size, features and price point, but man oh man did I mention the back-light bleed? Anyway, this is not for pro-gamers or content creators. If you dabble in those (I game a lot actually) it will perform well, if you can get over the insane back-light bleed. Also.... OH MY GOD THE BACK-LIGHT BLEED ON THIS THING IS NUTS. Being a long-time Massdrop customer and having made some big AV purchases from them, I can say I expected more. I usually associate this site with very high-quality goods. I send folks here all the time for AV gear. I consider this a lesson learned. Not everything sold here is going to be great. Sometimes you just get what you get.

ChojinMaybe you received a bad screen, because I'm actually surprised at the absence of backlight bleed on my Vast. I put the screen through several solid colors and they all looked very evenly lit. If anything, the edges have a very slight vignetting around the edges. Which is much better than light bleed in my opinion.

ROYteousThis is what I am dealing with. That is my screen with a solid black background. I read about this "Batman" back light bleed. Now I get why they call it that.

ChojinI reached out to MD and they are going to do an RMA for me. Once I have the replacement set up, I will report back. Hopefully I was just unlucky and really did get a bad screen. If the second one is the same way, I may be done with it. I will take a side -by-side shot if I can.

ChojinHoly shit it actually does look like the batman symbol. Really sucks to hear that. Good thing it didn't even ship to anywhere 'cept the US.

EcchiWhaleSad thing is that I found another discussion here on MD from a year ago with the exact same issues. If the replacement comes back with the same issues, I think I am over it. ChojinI agree. Sorry to hear about this again, I can only imagine the kind of headache a return for this causes. I plan on getting a 1440p ultrawide but this is the kind of thing that deters me. I really hope you get your issue sorted out in the end.

EcchiWhaleThe replacement should be here tomorrow. I will check them side-by-side. I am curious if anyone else has gotten one recently with the same issues. If the second one has it as well, it might just be all of them that suffer from it.

DuckyboyeNo joy. The second one is just as bad as the first. It would appear this is just a manufacturing quality or design issue. Kind of makes me sad. I know it is not a true enthusiast monitor and geared more towards budget conscious buyers, but I had hoped for more from a site like this.
