LukeceptionI guess when they say "lean" bass, they mean there isn't too much bass. The bass is pretty "tight" and punchy. You'll feel it, but it is not going to drown out other sounds. I think it sounds perfectly fine. I recommend getting an amplifier for this. I wouldn't use an equalizer, but that's your preference. See what it sounds like with and without an equalizer.
NoveskeExactly. If the measurement they posted is correct, these are very nice headphones which are for sensitive ears maybe a tad to bright, as they measure quite linear, which is not the case when you sit in front of vey good linear speakers in a distance - the highs would be a bit damped by the air.
Equalizing for a 'lack' of bass would not be needed, but that's of course a matter of taste as always. I would prefer taking proper measurements and linearize them even more wither with a linear phase EQ (DSP tech) or using accurate, a specialized room correction measurement suite which I have anyway, By that I could make them better than good and also apply a tad of high dampening so it fits for long term music listening and music mastering.
iCupboardI bought a micca origen and it works perfectly well with these headphones. Plenty of sound, zero software issues, easy set up. if you wanted to spend double, and have a little bit of future proofing for headphone upgrades another option would be a schiit stack.
