I'm a total audiophile noob. I have a pair of Shure SRH-440 that I use with my laptop - I LOVE their sound, but I can't wear them for more than an hour before they really hurt the top of my head. And now my son (whose head is smaller) has started using them so I'm looking for a replacement. I want to use these headphones to both listen to music while I code and listen to movies when I'm done coding. I just joined this drop, but now I think should have asked some questions first: Will I be able to use these with my computer, or do I need a DAC or amp or something like that? (you see, I don't even know what to ask!) Does the fact that they are open-backed mean I won't be able to use them at the office?

zgeistTake the Shure SRH-1540...is closed, super built, very stylish, extremely comfortable, has detachable cable, you will get a lot of accessory (case, second pair of cushions, two cables) and it sounds great (especially at lower volumes extremely nice). You won't need an extra headphone amp.

tiadThanks for the reply. Those sound perfect but they sure are pricey. Guess I'd better start saving.
