Got a set of these last time around. They're seriously excellent sounding. The red highlights... yeah, OK, they don't add to the sound, but they look fine. Or maybe the red DOES add to the sound. Open back 'phones have a much richer soundstage, if they're competently done, than closed back... but they can annoy the person sitting next to you.
I've seen tests of these compared to the AKG 7 series from retail outlets, and for whatever reason, these test better. A couple of headphone gurus (I use headphones by necessity... some people prefer them as their primary listening source) think these are in the top handful of open back over ear headphones unless you're going to drop something approaching a thousand dollars. For me that would be a waste of money since 90% of my listening is through speakers. But... these are the closest thing to listening through speakers other than some breathtakingly expensive CIEMs I have.

EdinNJThey should test better than the standard K702/K712 as they are based on the 65th ANV model which has additional QC and part binning. I think these and the now unavailable K702 65th ANV are severely underrated and fix many of the quibbles that came with the original K701 many years ago. Measurements at innerfidelity show good things for the K7xx so long as the massdrop version QC holds up.
