They were supposed to arrive today (3/21/18) but the tracking shows the package is sitting in my local post office after being handed over to USPS. The delivery date was changed to tomorrow by end of day. The headphones would have been here by now if they had just shipped them out Priority Mail and charged me for it. Evidently, SmartPost is how FedEx hands off the package to USPS for local delivery to lower costs. Why? It would have been better and simpler to just pay USPS to drop the thing in my mailbox; I would have had it by now. Ridiculous.

slotmechYou know it. Dumbpost is the worst shipping in the US, hands down. You will eventually get your package.....or not. Got a 50/50 chance.....pathetic.

dragon2knightFollow-up: they were on the front step when I got home (rather late) yesterday (3/22/18). Opened the box, and plugged them into my PC, started Spotify and played a few games to see how they sounded. Right now they're a little flatter-sounding than my Superluxes, but I'm not an audiophile and that's not what I bought them for anyway. $50 - 75 is about right for the way they sound, at least to me. But that slow-boat-to-the-Far-East shipping... arrgghh!!

slotmechIt gets better after 5 to 10 hours of burn in period. Also, get velour pads. I went and bought a pair on blind before cans ariwed, and received bout 10 days after. Glad I did so.

m425At this point, I'm not sure I want to go to the effort of burning them in. I have a cheapie set of Sennheisers, the HD 205s (that I don't use much because they squeeze my ears too hard to wear for long) that actually sound better for most uses. Hopefully they'll be tolerable long enough to do some transfers I wanted to do. EDIT: *sigh* I was over at the Big A for some other stuff and saw some pads that might work, and a shorter aftermarket cable (the stock one gets in my way) for cheap, so I'll give those a shot.

slotmechA quick note on the official AKG velour pads for these (and K240/K271 models): the diameter of the hole in them is rather smaller than that of the vinyl pads. In my case, at least, this resulted in them resting more on top of my ear lobes than around them. Significantly less comfortable.
I‘ve tried the Brainwavz Round (NOT “Round XL”) velour pads with these. They fit very well and install easily enough but move the driver further from the ear due to their increased thickness. It altered the sound a bit too much for my taste.

awoodbriThe hilarious part is that I'm trying to improve the sound of a $50 set of headphones by getting a better cable and different pads when I would have been better off just buying the AKG 240s at Guitar Center when I saw them. :-)
