Can someone tell me why this is selling so fast? Who is this person and what's special about this AMP? Is it the power output at the price? SNR?
It doesn't have balanced output, so that's not it. The ship date is quite far so I'd like to know how this thing is "the bee's knees" so to speak. I was hoping it was balanced so I could have one for future endeavors, but now I don't know if there's any reason for me to get it.
Thanks

SythrixInstead of asking for someone here to explain it to you, maybe you should actually put in some "effort" and look around this crazy thing called the "internet" and find out for yourself.

rhenomOnce asking questions becomes a thing that is mocked or looked down upon, the world is truly lost. You have added nothing to the conversation. If you're not interested in helping a random comment, why comment on it at all? You think there is some limit? This is where people who know what they want are congregating, so it's a logical place to ask. Go troll elsewhere.

SythrixOnce people are too lazy to find readily available information themselves, the world is truly lost.
P.S. I'm only trolling you because with questions like: "why is this selling so fast" "who is this person" and "what's special about this amp" and talking about how "the world is truly lost" You deserve to be trolled.

rhenomI'm not going to entertain your continuing negativity. You don't want to help and you want to make others feel bad while you're going about it.

rhenomWhat's wrong with this guy asking about this amp here? This is the discussion section for the amp he's asking about. It might just be the most appropriate place possible for his comment.
There might be other people wondering the same thing as him and they would look in this discussion for the answer. I'm one of those people.

SythrixOkay, I'll try to get his point across without being a cunt:
The name of the amplifier is Cavalli Tube Hybrid. It is in the description that the designer of the unit is doctor Alex Cavalli. If you google that, you'll discover his proficiency as well as his brand - Cavalli Audio. You will then be able to figure out his product line and be presented with the fact that they cost like 3000 dollars each.
You will then wonder why they're so expensive and google a couple reviews which will lead you to realise they're widely loved and praised amongst very knowledgeable members of the community and that if they were to offer a cheaper alternative (which they have in the past, the Liquid Carbon that retailed for $599 and 799) they could reach a much broader audience with much less disposable income.
So what do we have here? An astronomically cheaper offering from a super high end, extremely well regarded engineer and brand. I agree that asking questions should not be mocked and new member should not be trolled but he does have a point - curiosity is a good thing, being proactive is necessary to keep moving forward, you speak of a lost world but you're not really helping your case.
All of this could be figured out within like 10 to 20 minutes. Would it not have been more satisfactory to figure things out yourself rather than being spoon fed lacklustre information? I hope this helps, I really don't mean to be patronising and even less so do I mean to sound troll-ish.

VigrithI can accept all of that. You have a point. However sometimes it is better to ask a mechanic which car they would choose rather than research everything yourself. Surely you can and it would be enlightening, but you really wouldn't grasp the same way as the mechanic who has been doing this for years. Sometimes you're just really busy and rely on the kindness and willingness of someone with the knowledge and the ability to help out immediately with the pertinent information you as an ignorant buyer need.
Thanks for your detailed response and not being either of the things you were worried about.

VigrithThanks for giving your input and trying to not be a cunt, but here's why the question is still unanswered: Sennheiser makes $55,000 headphones. People say they're very good, which I'm sure they are. Does that mean any cheaper product by Sennheiser will automatically be better than other products at the same price? Not necessarily.
Cavalli is obviously very good with audio products, but that alone doesn't explain what's so great about this specific product. I think there are a lot of people who know Cavalli is great, but still wonder "is this the best amp I can get for $250? What, specifically, about this amp makes it better than other $250 amps?"
It's a very intelligent, important question to ask. Sure, it's possible to look the information up myself. But it never hurts to ask the opinion of other people who are very knowledgeable. It's kind of like asking for a second doctor's opinion if you have a health issue.

HamrobesUnderstandable - I actually meant to link this at the end of the post but apparently I didn't.
http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/massdrop-cavalli-tube-hybrid-amp.4866/
There are like 5+ reviews in there, all by members who have tons of experience with good (and expensive) products, not necessarily by Cavalli. Plenty of comparisons between this specific unit and other very well regarded products within similar price ranges (Vali 2, Jotunheim, other more expensive hybrids, etc.).
There is also a relevant difference (imo) between a boutique vendor such as Cavalli and a brand such as Sennheiser - one is more prone to try and appease to everyone and touch every bit of market possible for maximum profit and the other is more focused on doing what they do best regardless of whether or not it reaches the masses. I'd gladly accept this being a fantastic product at $250 whilst a $25 pair of headphones by Sennheiser may raise my eyebrow. You still have a very valid point though, I'm not trying to nitpick.

VigrithIt probably took you much less than 10-20 minutes to write that summary --Which was great and I appreciate you taking the time write it. It certainly took less than 10-20 minutes for me to read.
Let's say that took 30 seconds for me to read. So, with, let's say, two minutes of writing, you saved me at least nine and one half minutes. You've probably saved a lot of other people some time as well. This is the kind of thing I'd expect in the Community Discussions & Reviews section of the site. Thanks again for that.
On the other hand, how much my time did rhenom waste?
People are searching for information here. It's a waste of everybody's time to have to wade through snark. Signal to noise, etc.

_zegnaIt was a lazy question. Why couldn't they Google who Cavalli is and find out for themselves?

rhenomHonestly dude. I ask questions that could be easily answered by Googling but that defeats the point of having others discuss it openly were anyone can just read what is written and then if they choose to do so, comment or Google it in the end.
Similar to people who say it's cheaper on another site. I ask for a link so everyone can check it out and more specifically because prices change all the time. But that's off-topic.
I like not having to go around the internet for information that can be found in one spot especially since I spend money here.
Anyways. Take care.

BrainFlushCall me old fashioned, but I remember when if you wanted to learn about something you had to look it up in a book. Now we got people up in this thread talking about how inconvenient it would be to spend 9 minutes, reading a couple forum posts, people need things spoon-fed to them. I know this is a damn "discussion" forum, but again call me old fashioned, but I believe that it is best for everyone to put forward just a little teeny tiny bit of effort to learn about things before discussing them.
The first time I read his original post I actually thought that he was somehow being sarcastic and trying to trash the product "Who is this guy" "What's so special about this thing" It's actually kind of insulting until you realize that he was asking genuine questions because the original poster didn't bother to so much as read the description of the item he was inquiring about.

rhenomI get it man. I just like keeping it in one place for me personally. I hate using smartphones. But finally got one 5 years ago. Started texting then too. So I'm old fashioned to a degree. I can search and read reviews and everything in between. But again I just like being here. Just don't stress it too much. Have a good day dude.

ShawnbThey could google Cavalli and find out he makes some really expensive, good products. This is a new, cheaper product. There are lots of $250 amps available, so it makes sense for people to ask what makes this product better? And no, just because it's made by Cavalli doesn't automatically make it better than all other $250 amps. More info is needed.
I think it's lazy to assume a product is worth getting just because of the name on the product. So it you're worried about people being lazy, consider that perspective.

SythrixDr. Alex Cavalli design amps. People who bought them (like me) are very passionate about how good they sound. Hence a reputation starts to build over the years. And that’s where we are now.
