Mine’s on the way and im beginning to think I’ve made a mistake. Seems from the recent posts that there’s real problems with this amp. Gonna be a real problem returning this from U.K. and getting a refund
Steve-CastJust going by the latest commen on this page it seems that quite a few seem to have problems. I hope not because I really didn’t have the spare cash for this at the moment but got sucked in! If it’s okay then great. I’ll certainly post my comments
Dreamer23I left a comment yesterday about an imperfect finish on the volume knob. It's a little unpleasant to touch, but the sound wise, there is nothing wrong with it. Manual was clear and set up was easy.
Dreamer23Yes, I noticed that too. It's definitely concerning looking at them but at the same time, there seem to be others who are enjoying and praising this amp. So it makes it very difficult to pull the trigger to be honest. Hopefully you will be one of the latter and convince me to be one as well :)
tulbonggunI remember reading your comment yesterday. Since you already got it, would you be able to compare it or maybe even tell if this would be a suitable upgrade to my Magni 2? I currently own a set of HD 6XX and MDR-Z7.
P.S.: My other options are the Aune X7S, Schiit Asgard 2, Emotiva Basx A-100 (I also have the Klipsch RP-150M that would benefit from it).
Steve-CastI can only give you my opinion of what I actually experienced. I paired CTH with Gustard x20u DAC and tried Senn HD598, 650, 700, B&W P7, Westone W40. Other amp that I can compare this to is LCX. I have both and right out of the box, CTH sounded warm and muddy. I'm under 20 hours of total head time on CTH. So, I assume sound can change. LCX on the other hand, offered more details. That's all I can say for certain. For me, I enjoy listening to live Blues recordings on CTH. Good luck on your amp hunting!
tulbonggunThank you so much for taking the time and sharing your impressions with me. It sounds like the LCX would be a better option overall, but I'm glad to hear that you can take that as a reference/comparison. Hopefully others will also begin to share their experience as well to help me make my choice. Then again, thanks for your input!
Steve-Cast100% Emotiva BasX A100. Best bang for buck, ever. Amazing imo. I think Z Review on YouTube has a video up, check it out. For $229 you can't go wrong.
Edit: Here is review
