Leaf17You will not have a problem powering it. But you should get a dac or at least a dac to RCA cable so that you can actually connect your computer to the amp.

Leaf17What you bought is amplifier only. You can connect your laptop to this amplifier in 2 ways 1. 3.5mm to RCA cable that outputs from your laptop headphone jack into RCA inputs on this amplifier 2. A better way to setup your system is to get a DAC. Your laptop's USB out will output to DAC and DAC's line out to this amplifier. For this setup you need a USB cable and RCA cables. There are lot of DACs in the market, Massdrop has Nuforce uDAC-3 active right now. If you dont want this hassle of getting a DAC, you can contact Massdrop to see if they swap out your amplifier with the CTH+SDAC combo which is $320

Leaf17Since you seem to not prefer more wires, get a 3.5mm to RCA cable for now, which should let you use the CTH with your laptop. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-5mm-2-Male-Adapter-Cable/dp/B01D5H8KO2?th=1

Leaf17Your connections are correct. As for the RCA connectors on the back, red=right. With this setup, a good setting on your laptop volume level is at 80%.
Getting a DAC takes the digital to analog conversion out of your laptop, which can help send a cleaner signal to the CTH. It could improve the sound as well

Leaf17So its your laptop's headphone jack that's sending bad signal.
This is exactly where a DAC would help.

Apr 27, 2018
maheeThe one on top of that tube it’s curved to the left plus if i move the tube gently it falls out of place but i think that’s intended plus i noticed when i played gentle music on max volume it played out normally but when i played for example a super crowded song with a lot of different instruments the noise had this up and down noise to it it’s like the volume changes up and down 2 times a second and that also happens when someone screams from lets say a teamspeak or discord channel don’t really know why but when i use it on my phone runs perfectly fine as i said before ill try to get a dac if it doesn’t help ill be upgrading my cpu in like 1 month anyways so ill make sure to get a different brand mobo maybe that would be the solution

Leaf17Tube looks fine in the photo. Did you try connecting directly to the motherboard?
If that is also not resolving your problem, then a DAC could help the situation. Lot of cheap and good options out there

JoeIkeBut i tried the headphones without the amp same problem idk ill just get a dac if that doesn’t work then it’s 100% either the mobo or the headphones themselves have broken drivers idk
