Could anyone tell me how I can expect my HD 6XX's with a balanced cable and this amp to sound vs. my current M50X's and 70$ Sound blaster sound card? I keep reading online that people think that it will sound boring. I was also wondering what would be a good DAC or even preamp that would make this setup sound more lively?

MrMotionBoring? What?? nah man, both the HD 650 (6XX) and LC have full and musical sounds, should be very musical and solid sounding. You still need a DAC, and I guess you can still use the one in your $70 soundcard, but the HD 650 can scale up and can benefit from an upgraded DAC if you ever feel like trying out an upgrade in that area.

MrMotionYou know, I like to try different options and make "discoveries," but the Schiit Modi (especially the upgraded multibit version) is hard to beat for value under $200

MrMotionHonestly, I WOULD try with your soundcard first, I had a SoundBlaster Z and the USB Omni 5.1 (actually a whole bunch of Creative gear over the years) and it's a decent start. The Schiit Modi is better enough and different enough for you to notice a difference, but generally DAC improvements cost more to get more. I'm a gamer more than music Audiophile (I love music, but it usually doesn't hold my attention as long as a good game, and I love gaming with headphone surround even more), so it would be hard for me to give up the surround.
Starting from what you have, the upgrade path for music that I'd recommend would next be the Schiit Modi Multibit, iFi Micro iDSD Black Label or Chord Mojo, AudioGD DAC-19 or Schiit Gungnir Multibit, and I don't have a strong sense of what to do after that, lol! There's probably other good choices in those price ranges too.
For gaming and surround, the upgrade path is simpler: start with what you have, next maybe the Sennheiser GSX 1000 (research the surround processing on this), then the Creative X7, and after that there's a huge gap of worthwhile considerations (you can always connect a DAC to the X7's optical out for an upgrade) until you reach the Smyth Realizer A16. Hopefully there are more options in-between in the future, because there's a big price gap in there.
