NorrellIs that "yay, another Chinese knife" or 'Boo, not another Chinese knife"? I just bought three knives last week. A LionSteel KUR made in Italy, a Kizer Ursa Minor made in China and a ZT 0808 made in my homeland. The LionSteel is a beautifully made knife with some unique and innovative features. Yay Italy. The ZT is a Todd Rexford design titanium frame lock flipper running on bearings as is the Kizer Ursa Minor (Ray Laconico design). The ZT and the Kizer are comparably priced, use the same steel (S35VN), the same titanium, etc. Of those two the Chinese made Kizer is every bit as well made and the fit and finish is impeccable. They both run on bearings but the Chinese made example uses ceramic bearings in a nylon cage and the ZT came with steel bearings in a brass cage (I upgraded it to ceramic) and the Kizer uses a ceramic detent ball. So for the same price the edge goes to the Chinese in materials. My only complaint is that the Kizer warranty is voided if you take the knife apart yourself (mine was voided on day two. I gotta know what makes them tick). Boo China. I think both knives are some of the best examples of the higher end, high volume production knives and I will carry both and use them with confidence. My point is that in this instance the "MADE IN CHINA" stigma is undeserved. If you have any qualms about buying from companies like Kizer and WE I think you can buy with confidence.

Okienuan I've never had a WE so I can't speak to their build quality. Based off what I've seen online though they look to be manufactured well. Brad's knifes are beautiful works of art, my hope is that the WE version will do his artistry justice.
NorrellThey are excellent, there is a reason (besides being overseas) that everyone is sourcing their manufacturing from WE. From the looks of it, this knife is going to be a home run.
namhodThe blade is well done, paper cutting/arm hair shaving sharp out of the box. Even sharper with a few strokes of a ceramic sharpener. The scales seem plain at first but you can see a bunch of detail in the G10 the more you look. Deployment was just ok, though I can't say much more as I tossed the stock bearings asap for ceramic. For reference, it does come with caged ball bearings. The clip is tip up and stamped steel. No complaints there, remember $35 knife with G10, bearings and SV35N. Steel liner lock, The lock bar release is not very kind to my thumb. I guess thats my biggest beef. Nice jimping on the back of the blade with a contour for the thumb. I would rate this a solid everyday beater knife for opening packages, breaking down boxes, or whatever chores come to mind. I bought 2, experimented on 1 and wrecked it but now I have spare parts so no big deal. #2 has the new bearings, but my tweaking stopped there. Anyway it's a cheap date. Short answer- nothing to write home about. Did some cardboard cutting, packaging tape etc. Blade still cuts paper and will shave some arm hair, though not down to the skin like my Falcon. It may have dulled a bit or was never as sharp. UPDATE: Since I still had one set of ceramic bearings left, I got another knife to replace the one I messed up. In the process I discovered why I messed the other one up. Looks like the over-travel/blade stop bar fell out and got lost. Almost happened again.
rob-okraySounds like quite a bargain for S35VN, even if it's not the prettiest knife
Decent edge retention? ie: seem like they did okay on the heat treat?
OkienuanKizer had excellent warranty service for me even though I took mine apart. I contacted them about my issue and they gave me the blessing to take it apart to add loctite to some needed areas. The pivot screw also had some stripping issues; I just asked them for a new pivot screw and they ended up sending me an entire hardware replacement package (every screw included) for the knife, free of charge. It wasn't needed but I was stoked to have a full array of spare parts just in case.
OkienuanHard to know for sure, her email was wendy@kizercutlery.com
I just used their website where they explain how to fill a warranty claim. Since it was a simple part I was asking about, it didn’t require me sending it in, they just took my word for it and mailed me the parts.
NorrellThese Massdrop collaborations are only generating the interest they do because they are made by WE.
If they were forty bucks cheaper but made by Boker, I might have one or two of them.
Because they are reasonably priced full-quality WE knives, I have an example of each, except the Perpetua because it looked like I would only use it as a work knife, and I work in a lot of gritty, sandy, dusty, concrete-y environments. I've got working knives for that arena already.
