Looks cool, is this significantly better than getting a Leek? Similar blade profile and function.

dealaholicA step up in steel quality, a tad lighter, different handle material and not assisted opening.
Also almost 3 times the price.

AlacardDoh! Forgot the CPM-154 Carbon Fiber Leek drop was active and was thinking of the 14C28N stainless handle version.
@dealaholic So same weight as the 154 Leek and roughly comparable steel. Also WE Knife is making the Dogtooth, so probably better fit and finish though I have no firsthand experience.
I'd be tempted if I didn't already have a Brad Zinker Chap.

dealaholicCoincidentally I've been carrying both knives recently. There are definitely a lot of similarities for sure. Closed they are almost identical in size though the leek is a bit more thin. Open the dogtooth is about 1/4 inch longer. I don't have a scale but the leek is a bit heavier. I haven't had the need to sharpen either though when I do I will be thankful for the dogtooth's choil. I like both knives and don't think you could go wrong with either. I might be in for the liner lock as well because I can't help myself.

dead.foxJust noticed what a nice deep carry clip the Dogtooth has.

bookworm13Yeah I love the clip. The leek clip is dumb stiff by comparison and no deep carry.

dealaholicThe original Dogtooth is everything and more than what I had envision the Leeks to be.
The Leeks turned out to be too small and too thin and flimsy feeling to me. I carried them only a few times.
The Dogtooth is more what I was looking for. To me it's the smallest possible EDC which is still big enough to be useful most of the time.
Good job MassDrop!

dead.foxCool! Thanks for the photos. I am surprised by how close in size both of them really are, and the difference between the opened length compared to the closed. I do like how thin they both are. I have held off on Leek so far because of the assisted opener. I'm going with the Dogtooth.

dead.foxThank you very much for the photos, that really puts into perspective relative dimensions.
Don't everyone throw tomatoes at me but this makes me realize that that my CPM-S35VN Spyderco Positron fits the role of this Dogtooth, a premium version of a compact edc folder.
Thanks all, you saved me $100 (actually $120 because I'd definitely would have gone for the Carbon Fiber one)

dealaholicThe Positron looks like a really nice knife too. First I heard of it and I'll need to check it out. Do you have any trouble disengaging the liner lock?

dealaholicAssuming the knife is up to Zinker construction QA, absolutely yes. A D2 composite or CPM154 Leek goes for $65-75 USD, so we're talking about a 30% upgrade.
I love my CF Leek but there are problems. First, if you get anything but the base 12C28N, the Leek's tip is crazy fragile
Second, the Leek's QA, especially on heat treat, isn't all that great. I've had 2 CPM154 Leeks and the edge retention was notably different. Not to mention that the grind on the first one was a good .5mm off center, and not at all straight. And neither is anywhere close to the edge retention of my Bark River.

bookworm13For the most part the liner lock is fine, it does get a bit stubborn only once in a while. The biggest advantage of the positron over the Leek is that the handle scales have a bit more volume making it more secure/comfortable to hold.
