Hello Everyone, Thanks for coming to our launch of the Massdrop x Carmina Semi-Brogue Oxford! This collaboration has been nearly nine months in the making, but Massdrop community members have been singing the praises of Carmina since folks started posting about them in 2014. As with all of our collaborations, this shoe was inspired by the Massdrop community's behavior. The comparison posts, review posts, the debate that happens around every brand on Massdrop, all of that comes to our team and is considered in the development of our collaborations. The discussions about Carmina (on Massdrop) generally agreed the Rain last was easier to fit than the Simpson without sacrificing the smooth profile you expect from a european crafted shoe. Massdrop discussions focused around Carmina’s semi brogue pattern and always stressed the impressive price to performance ratio Carmina represents in the ~$500 price bracket. By combining Massdrop’s community feedback with Carmina’s incredible materials and existing styles, we’ve created a shoe we hope many of you will enjoy for years to come. I’ll be here throughout the drop answering questions along with my colleagues. Thanks again for your interest and we’re looking forward to this exciting launch of our first Oxford collaboration! The Massdrop x Carmina Semi-Brogue Oxford will be available for $349.99 with free US shipping starting May 15th at 6 a.m. PT. This drop will also be available to International members (shipping details to be released). All participants will receive a pair of sized beechwood shoe trees. This drop will be initially limited to 750 pairs.
Sizing Information
Length: the sizing options are US standard lengths. The Rain last (and thus this shoe) fits true to size. See the detailed information on the sizing chart in the drop description.

WillThanks for the info! So if I am a 10.5E on the brannock device, what size should I go with at checkout?

WillI find this interesting considering that most guys at the style forum thread said they run about a size small. Could this be US vs UK measurement?
also, how would poor fit be handled; normal return process or am I stuck with the wrong size?

WillIs there any way to add other colors? They have a wonderful cognac vegano or maroon calf in their standard color palette.
to me - "black" and "semi brogue" don't go together.

squirreldude1200Yes that is due to UK vs US. They are not actually a size smaller though; a 10UK = 11US

WillYes, I find it rather interesting also. I wear in most cases US 7.5 on AE, Alden and UK 6.5 on Church's and CJs. Both regular width. My Carmina UK 6.5 on Rain last, it is TIGHT, left-to-right/back-and-forth. I am going half size up.

WillHi Will - I haven't been able to receive an answer to my question and would like to know before I finalize my order; can Canadians expect any further Customs/Duties or are they accounted for the in the high shipping price?

WillI just hope you won't be using a low-cost subcontractor with poor QC like you did with AE Chukkas.

AJCarminaShipping fee is just that, shipping. You are always responsible for custom duties on your end.

AnzialHey Anzial,
Thanks for your post! That said, I'm a little confused.
"I just hope you won't be using a low-cost subcontractor with poor QC like you did with AE Chukkas"
The only parties involved with manufacturing the AE Chukkas are Massdrop and Allen Edmonds. There were and are no sub-contractors involved.
Can I ask what gave you that idea? If there's a source for this information, I'd like to address it.

WillThe idea came from numerous complaints about QC of the chukkas. So let me re-phrase for accuracy - I hope the QC would be much higher on this drop than it was on chukkas so far.

WillSo on a Brannock device I measure a 9.5US. My width falls between B and C should I get the narrow (US C for the shoes) or play it safe and get the standard (US D for the shoes)?

AnzialWhen I looked at your posts, I found that you like to troll around to criticize the things you never bought/owned. Please don't pretend knowing shoes or anything you have no idea with, you are just the kind of nerd who stays home and plays video game for the majority of your life.

TEG5523Oh irony! and what are YOU doing exactly? I don't see you doing anything here except for stalking and personal attacks which is the very definition of trolling. If you truly looked through my posts, you'd find out that me being critical was the reason why people got promotional codes on a couple of drops, making MD better as a result. At the very least, my contributions to MD are recognized, while yours are laughable.
And btw, don't presume to know what I do own and what I do not.

AnzialSellers can often account for customs/duties in the shipping price, it is not uncommon.

AJCarminaPerhaps, but MD is NOT one of them, in this respect it is like the vast majority of online stores who don't bother with international custom fees either.

WillHi Will, Regarding the width measurements under the Sizing Guide section, where exactly are these taken from? The insole, the sole, the widest point inside the shoe? The length measurements specify insole, but the width measurements do not and seem high for insole widths. Thanks for your help in advance.

WillWill, Any updates? An email came out awhile back to all MD customers (for this purchase) to keep them up to date. In the email it went over the ways you guys would keep us informed about the process (pictures, making of videos, etc). I understand this won't be delivered for awhile, but it is a little weird that we receive an email that says "hey, we are going to provide awesome content while keeping you in the loop", and be totally silent afterwards.
Regards, Jason

Jenko83Pretty sure practically every other drop I've entered have given specific dates on which updates happen -- and updates happen on those dates even if it's a non-event update. At this point, I'd just appreciate any response, even if it's just "hey guys, no new info, this drop is still scheduled as planned."
