If and when there is a video showing setup, I’ll commit.

BowGalHi BowGal. I'm planning to make a setup video but it'll be 2-3 weeks because I'm off on a 10 day hike soon.
However, the X-Mid is one of the most simple tents to set up - that was a big goal of mine. I had a friend try it out on a camping trip and he wrote this to me today:
"I found it so simple to setup.  So much faster than even my Fly Creek 2 or my Copper Spur UL 1"
Pitching the X-Mid is as simple as staking out the 4 corners into a rectangle and then inserting the two poles. There's almost no guess work like there is with most trekking pole tents. You don't have to pre-measure the poles or position them just right. You merely insert them and extend until taut.
Below is a infographic showing these easy steps. I set it up under 30 seconds yesterday. I might be able to get under 15 seconds if I rushed. Note that the inner can be left clipped inside, so it's already in place and stays dry even if it's raining during setup.

dandurstonOr showing this another way, you simply stake out the rectangle:

And then add the two poles via the vents and you're done unless you want to add any extra stakes or guylines for harsh conditions. You can leave the inner clipped inside so it's already in place.

dandurstonDarn I had ordered, but then saw that it wouldn’t ship until April 2019. My AT hike begins March 18. Sorry that I had to cancel, but I do appreciate answering my questions

BowGalYeah the long wait is a bummer. They might be early but obviously you can't count on that.
Have fun on the AT!

dandurstonThank you Dan. Awesome. Initially, I wasnt able to commit to the drop as i was expecting to thru hike beginning March 18. im now flip flopping AT, with a start of May 1. Would that change anything in getting the tent in time?

BowGalThe estimated ship date for the tent is April 19, which is mostly dependant on the manufacturer because they need 6 months or so to make the batch. I'm told that might be a bit conservative and the manufacturer is used to working with strict deadlines for larger companies, so I'm optimistic that the tents will be on time.
So I think there is a good chance it would arrive in time, but I can't say for 100% sure. I expect there will be some updates over the next 7.5 months so you would know if it is ahead/on/behind schedule. If you have another older tent, you could also have that around as a backup plan in case the tent arrives a week into your hike and then someone mails it to you.
