eharmanThe best way to do it is to remove the inner and angle the poles a little bit so the pole bottoms are a few inches closer to the centerline of the shelter. If you simply remove the inner and don't angle the poles, you can fit two folks underneath but you'll end up a bit close to the edges (below left).
But if you angle the poles inward slightly so the bottoms are over by 4-5", then the fly will still pitch robustly and two folks will fit more comfortably (below right). These diagrams are to proper scale showing 20" x 72" pads. You can also have the sleepers on a bit of angle if you like that layout better (image the pads below facing 1 o'clock instead of 12).
