Hey Dan, any updates on the 300 to be released ? How soon do you expect them to sell out once they drop? I am wondering if I should be checking the site daily or hourly ;)

GrimTuesdayIt should re-open in the next few days. Massdrop said "early-mid week" when I talked to them last but they weren't exactly sure because some of their key people were at the Outdoor Retailer show. The drops seem to open at the same time of day (8 AM EST, 5 AM PST) and it's not open now, so likely it'll open at that time on Tues, Wed or Thur this week. These 300 tents are the last ones that will be available for the upcoming season. They should have a June ship date but I'm not exactly sure what the timing is, and how conservative Massdrop will be with the date they list. Almost certainly they will sell out during the upcoming drop but there isn't a panic to buy one (e.g. checking daily is fine). Most likely we'll sell about 100 on the first day, then reach 200 sold after 4-5 days and then it will trickle up to 300 sold at a rate of 5-10 per day, so it sells out in 2-3 weeks. So anyone interested doesn't need to hover over the refresh button but can rather click "request" on the drop page and then order when they get an email notification sometime later this week. With that said, Massdrop might have a few extra on hand for shipping in April because they have currently sold 975 but expect about 1000 then, so if someone is one of the first 25 or so to order then they might get it in late April rather than June (this is speculation on my part - Massdrop might simply have other plans for those 25 tents).

dandurstonThanks Dan! I was kinda surprised to see it not open Feb 1 and even more surprised to see it not open today, since it's a Monday and that seems the natural day to do something like this. Early-mid week sure does sound like it could only be a Tuesday, though, because Wednesday would be just simply mid-week and Monday would be simply early-week! I will check especially hard tomorrow morning :) Thanks for being so open about this whole thing, it's really exciting! Edit: ok so I'll check double extra hard tomorrow (Wednesday) morning

GrimTuesdayI think what's happened here is that my contact from Massdrop expected they would open it for orders early this week, but their boss is the one that actually decides on these things and they were away last week at the big Outdoor Retailer show. So it wasn't a for sure timeline and now it has obviously has slipped somewhat. I emailed them near the end of the day yesterday to ask for an update, so I will provide that here when I hear back. Usually they are pretty responsive so I should hear back today. My guess is that they pushed it to early next week but I'm guessing. Certainly the waiting sucks, but at least production is underway on the tents so the actual ship dates for the tents isn't affected. Regardless of when they take orders, they have 300 more tents arriving in early June. With the delays and piling up interest, these 300 tents will likely sell out in about 2 weeks instead of 3 weeks.

GrimTuesdayI heard back from Massdrop and they have been busy so they didn't get the next drop fully scheduled yet. The UL team has requested a drop ASAP but the scheduling team is still sorting out exactly when. They are supposed to get back to me when it's finalized. So I can't see it happening this week. Hopefully next week.
