Just cancelled my order due to the following issues: 1) Way too long waiting time. Current market is being flooded with solid headamp choices and based on what Ive heard here and there, it is not gonna stop in 2018. I dont really know what exactly Massdrop/Schiit/somebody else comes with in the next 8 months but do not want to take the risks associated. I mean - ZDT Jr. is definitely gonna be competitive by that time from Sennheiser or OPT SET tube amp enthusiast's point of view but not really certain about that for those of us not so specifically oriented (see 4) ).
2) There is not enough technical info to have confidence in ordering. Having specs like exact output impedances or power rating in W into 32/64 ohms is a must from my perspective to really have trust in what I am purchasing.
3) Uncertain warranty support. What happens after the 1-year long Massdrop warranty, would anybody even consider repairing the amp? Eddie Current? Doubt it. Laconic? Be ready for the huge hassle with shipment to Russia and back. Your amp can very well get stuck on its way back to you from Russia. For me, currently residing in EU, even shipping to US within the first year would be very unpleasant.
4) The whole SBAF crowd is praising the amp based on supposedly great synergy with HD6x0/HD800 and OPT SET nature. The thing is pretty much everybody also testing with planar magnetics reported rather mediocre results... and some not-so-enthusiastic impressions with dynamics can be found too. This amp is probably good to go just for dynamic headphones, ideally high impedance or tonally brighter ones, to avoid subjective mushiness or softness.
5) As usual, too much hypetrain aka new toy syndrome. Also not many people heard the amp really. Would rather wait a year or two until things settle down a bit and shortcomings of this amp are well identified. I cannot try the amp and also cannot buy it with return option - thats yet another bummer for me.
Yeah, it is a very difficult decision for me since I wanted to own an Eddie Current amp for quite some time and SET OPT technology is also something I would like to test alongside my OTL Valhalla 2. Moreover, tonally and timbre wise, ZDT Jr. seems very very promising based on SBAF impressions so far. But, due to so many uncertainties, just need to pass this time :-/
Wish the others all the best with their decision making!

LlyhirSince you mention it more than once, I just want to point out that this amp is not a SET (single ended triode) amp. It's push pull. Being push pull, it should have better power output, but since they don't provide that info, it's not super important that it would. We still don't know it.
OPT is also the abbreviation for the output transformer itself. I've always seen these amps called OTC (output transformer coupled) but since an OTL doesn't have a transformer, I don't know that it really matters how you refer to it.
Anyway, I agree. I've yet to pull out of this drop, but I'm not confident in it. Probably going to bail and let the money go elsewhere for the time being.

ProfessorPatThanks for the correction, you are probably right! I am still kind of confused about the exact nature of the amp since I noticed this post just recently: http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/massdrop-x-eddie-current-zdt-jr-official-thread.5408/page-6#post-175835
' Not quite push pull. The design is very clever and worthy of a Nelson Pass'esque self promotional white paper. Just that Ahmed has sucky English and his universal translator often mistranslates earpad into tampon, or something like that. '
