Joined the drop last minute. Was a mixture of anticipation and exitement. I am specifically curious how this amp matches with the "under apreciated" Shure 1840. IHMO they are a step up from the HD600 (at least if not only in the area of soundstage and depth). Even if their bass might be plaqued by some higher than usual distortion in that phones measurements, i cannot notice it whatsoever. But as i got them totally new off eBay for only 200€, i cannot complain anyway. Point is, i needed an end-game amp and this one could be it. The Shures have 64 Ohm impedance and 96 dB sensitivity. Could be a nice pairing (i hope so). I believe, this amp will maintain its value quite nicely for the given price. So if i would need to sell it, no noticebale loss should occur.
Alternatively i have eyes with the WooAudio WA6 massdrop. If i am not mistaken, it has the clear advantage to be used with high sensitivity/low impedance IEMs and a wider range of planars. Shame, the Aeon Open Flow doesn't seem to be a good match with the ZDT Jr. according to a forum reviewer... But as often, there is a compromise! One cannot have all for a reasonable price...
I sum it up as the "500$ audio experiment" (taxes included) lol....
