This is really a good deal on an EE quilt if you are thinking of converting over from the sleeping bag or just want to have another option for hiking and backpacking. I have an original Revelation and it performs nicely but I also paid the full price for having been able to customize it a little. I've used it in some pretty chilly temps down to below freezing (upper 20's).

FozzyDudeIt's not an Englightened Equipment. It just bears the name.

namhodI would think EE has more integrity than that in just slapping their name on it. At least some of the materials are proprietary EE. Why do a collaboration with Massdrop if that's the case?

FozzyDudeWhat proprietary materials does Enlightened Equipment use?
Why do a collab? Money.
EE neither manufactures nor warranties these, to my knowledge. That sure makes it seem like it's just their name on it and nothing more.

namhodAt the moment, the specs state that Enlightened Equipment’s limited lifetime warranty is included. Due to the way Massdrop maintains, changes and updates product pages for each drop, I recommend capturing a copy of the drop page info at the time of purchase to maintain proof of what is promised you.

namhodI contacted EE and this is the info I was given: " Mass Drop Revelations are made in collaboration with Enlightened Equipment's design. As stated on the Mass Drop website, this is the Mass Drop version of the Revelation sleeping quilt. The design, materials, fill options, and construction are chosen solely by Mass Drop. If you have any questions, issues or requests regarding a Mass Drop Revelation, or you wish to utilize the product warranty, please initiate those requests through the Mass Drop customer service team."

namhodThis product clearly states, "Massdrop x Enlightened Equipment" so there should be no confusion about what it is. However, some people seem to be confused. It's EE Intellectual Property, with Massdrop options, and collab sourcing. So, it is EE, but it is *also* Massdrop. Basically it's its own company, in a way.
I do get annoyed when people seem to think a product is not actually from Company X just because it is no longer made in house. You aren't doing that here, but this conversation reminded me of other conversations where that opinion came up.
To those people, I ask, "Does that mean all Arc'teryx, Outdoor Research, Feathered Friends, Gossamer Gear, etc products aren't actually their own gear because some or all of it isn't made in their Headquarters?"
That's a rhetorical question.
If EE were to ship all their manufacturing overseas, it would *still* be EE. It just wouldn't be EE handmade in Minnesota, which I believe is part of the reason people purchase EE products.

CardamomteaIt's not clear to some folks just because they may not be familiar with Massdrop or maybe that this type of private labeling collaborative project work is common with many brands. A good example are the special-makeup tents from Marmot and (previously) Big Agnes that you see for sale only in particular stores...usually the same product name or a slight variation, and just small changes in materials or something. Dick's Sporting Goods is a regular for this kind of thing. It's been done with some pack brands as well (Mountainsmith comes to mind).

StepbystepExcellent point. Reminds me of shopping for conventional mattresses... same mattresses rebranded a thousand times (OK, that's an exaggeration) to prevent customers from price shopping.
