Shouldn't we wait and see if at least one of these knife colabs can even be delivered? 😜 Ok, I'm actually all for the knife. But it just seems that Massdrop is migrating away from the "group buy" concept, to more of a "Kickstarter/crowdfunding" platform. Waiting a few extra weeks for a tiny discount is one thing. But pre-paying, then waiting 6-9 months for an item requires a different mindset and type of buyer.

BflyingWe knives, ferrum forge and massdrop are very successful and competent individually. I'm not sure if it could be considered a kickstarter because of that. I understand your skepticism, I'm feeling it too, but I'm hoping these two knives come through. They are both an extremely good value as proposed. Plus I like the massdrop exclusives. They seem to have a very good resale value, and if not at least it's potentially a nice knife for cheap.

BflyingIn the keyboard community at least, these kind of "hurry up and wait" style group buys are common. Delays are also common, so we're used to waiting a period of months between payment and shipping. It just comes with the territory. It doesn't surprise me to see the same patterns from any of the Massdrop Original products. Nothing unusual here.

BflyingOh, in addition, I use PayPal, and they have amazing customer support, so if an issue does arise, I can count on them

HellreaverI actually have no worries about the product being delivered, and with the expected quality. Massdrop has not let me down yet. Issues? Sure, there are bound to be something come up when dealing in volume.
Ferrum Forge has a reputation created in the knife industry that I'm actually very much looking forward to.....even if it is just a dabble on this project (design). And WE Knives has almost instantly (relatively speaking), created both a known rep for quality, and almost instant cult following. Strange and interesting all the same.
So I hope my previous ramblings didn't come accross as mistrust in the platform, or any of the players associated with this drop. I just enjoy more hands-on, reviews, and opinions when committing to longer delivery cycles. Like many, I have been damaged to some extent by the Amazon ADHD mentality....."I WANT it NOW, no, I NOW KNOW!! I NEED IT NOW! !!!
Not that it means anything, but I'm sitting here fiddling with a couple WE Knife Spinners (S01B & S02B) while I read through these discussion boards. For what it's worth, they are VERY SMOOTH with tight tolerances, and kind of relaxing. And a "WEe" bit addicting I must say. πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‡πŸ€‘πŸ˜¬βš™οΈπŸ’°πŸ’ΈπŸ”—. So I have very high hopes for the upcoming colab knives. And because I NEEDED! these spinners before the weekend, I paid a premium for postage to get them a few days sooner. Dang you Amazon. Amazon Prime Membership has destroyed an entire generation (maybe more), for the prices that will be paid for shipping on non-prime (or even non-Amazon) e-commerce. What a world of crazy robots they have created. πŸ™‰πŸ™ˆπŸ™ŠπŸ’°πŸ’πŸ’°πŸ’

BflyingI actually have the s01 in silver. Veeery nice. Unfortunately I dropped it and damaged something, because it's not as smooth as it was, but it's still pretty close.

HellreaverWell, if you "like" the WE S01, you will "LOVE" the WE S02. And I'm grooving on a number of their knives also.

Bflyingi pre-ordered a knife manufactured by we knives (designed and sold as a VDK knife, called pioneer of the nile). it was delayed by 3-4 months for several reasons. that knife was more complex than any of the FF knives that massdrop is doing.

anonomousI sure hope we not see delays by months beyond the already pushed estimate. But I may guess that the quantity of the Massdrop single model order might wield a bigger stick than a single dealer SFO. Just speculating though.
