McJimmisJonas has a post in this discussion about it, they're going to reopen the drop shortly, they want to get the existing orders shipped out and the items QCed before they start the drop up again to sell the remaining knives.

OmniseedI was growling a bit myself, today. I had it in my head, to get in on the second half of the drop. You know. The portion between April 30th, and May 31st. So I come here today. May 6th, and now see it's closed. So they didn't hit 2605, Omniseed?

OmniseedOk. I see now Omniseed.
" Once we have shipped out all orders to members who have already joined, we'll re-launch this drop and make the remaining units available for immediate shipment."
Has anyone calculated, what that remaining number of units is? And we have to hope, it's a fairly even selection, among all variations.

SteveMidwestThey said the manufacturer completed ahead of schedule - but I don't see why it's necessary to end the drop early just because of that.
The only reason that makes sense to me is if they are being cautious to not oversell more than they have - which would imply they're either not certain about how many units were actually made, or perhaps the manufacturer stopped the production a bit early to focus on a different model (which would also explain why they 'finished' a month ahead of schedule).

spiznasYes, that makes sense. Also, lets say when they go through quality control. Which needs to be done now anyway, for this first wave to go out. And they have a 1% rejection rate. They'll have to take that into account, and reduce the number available. It's nice though, that the second wave will be ahead of schedule, as well.

SteveMidwestI wouldn't have thought massdrop would do a quality inspection themselves - usually that's the manufacturer's responsibility.
But i've noticed a few odd complaints here and there from various massdrop collab knives about something being a little off (blade not center, too tight, too loose etc) so that's good if massdrop have started doing a doing a quality inspection themselves too.

spiznasYes, you're right. Usually that's the manufacturer's responsibility. It is best, to do the QC on the knife. Before it goes in the box. But, it's good of Massdrop to double check too. They have stated - " we still have to do the QC and process a fairly large order." The added QC, is a good investment. Maybe they are only handling every 10 units? It's better to put a little more time into it now, while still in their hands. Than pay FedEx extra money, to haul them back and forth, on any possible warranty trips. : - )
