This new version is not lefty friendly. why would you update the knife and take away the reversable clip?

BuckleGearThe RH only is actually a selling point for me. Keeps it clean looking.

BrysqI hear what your saying. It would be nice if there was a lefty version then.

BuckleGearYea it's surprising that there isn't an option for that considering Ferrum Forge does that with their customs.
BuckleGearSorry you're feeling left out, so to speak. Allow me to shed some light on this...
It's not really feasible to put the Wing pattern on the lockbar side, where it would be cut in half. Generally, the feedback we've gotten is that framelocks (and liner locks) are already less appealing to lefties - the clip only changes which pocket you can carry it in. When I have inquired about this with other brands, they have universally responded that orders for left-handed knives, even when they are conservative and purchase less than the percentage of population (13% US / 10% world), they are left with piles of unbought inventory.
Perhaps you are suggesting that we make a complete left-handed version, which is certainly something I can ask about. However, the minimum order quantities for manufacturing would normally dictate that any order 10% of the typical size costs a lot more - this is not a simple change, it's an entirely new design; new scales, new lockbar insert, new fixtures for machining and lasering, new assembly process to train people on. Would you still be interested in a left-handed version at $180 or more?

JonasHeinemanJonas, Thanks for your insight. I hear what your saying. Its hard to produce them and not have left over stock, and that is understandable. Would I be willing to pay $180 for an actual left handed frame lock? Yes. DPX Gear is the only company that produces lefty frame locks and I think I paid $190 shipped for my HEST Folder. You know, If you did make a lefty version of something like the falcon, I bet it would sell because of the lack of lefty frame locks on the market. Kizer made the Gemini for BladeHq in a lefty version.. it sold out pretty fast and now you cant find it anywhere. DPX Gear probably doesnt have a problem moving them and keeps producing them because no one else does, well unless you have $500 for a lefty Sebenza.. but thats another level.
BuckleGearExcellent feedback, really appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Interesting thought about the lack of availability as a driver for sales (as opposed to just a % of the market for this particular model). I actually just handled a left-handed Sebenza at CRK's headquarters in Idaho, and I now understand how it must feel for lefties to use most framelocks much better. TBH, we're still new at this - thanks for helping us to understand the community's needs and wants. We'll think about feasibility of left-handed models in the future...or maybe just make some ambidextrous knives...

JonasHeinemanJonas, sounds good, Thanks for taking the time to hear my feedback. If you do make a lefty frame lock and its reasonably priced, I will take #0001.

BuckleGearHey mate, I'm a leftie using regular framelocks and axis lock knives. While the axis lock (benchmade) is the ultimate lock system for ambi knives, I feel that regular frame locks are actually better for lefties than righthanders. The reason for my opinion, is two fold: 1. Your thumb, which you will use to delatch the frame lock is on the same side lock arm so you don't have to "cross the stream" as such. 2. When you are pulling the lock bar out, you can just let your thumb slide over the lock bar in the same direction as you are already pushing to get your senstive fleshy parts out of the way of the blade. A righthander would have to push to the left until the blade delatches, then pull the thumb clear in the other direction. So as long as a knife has a reversible pock clip, it should be good for lefties as the mechanism is actually better suited for lefties than righthanders. </ControversialOpinion> I'll see if I can upload a video showing what I mean if it isn't clear by the text.

JonasOI am ambidextrous and when I am fidgeting with my framelocks I use my left hand the most so I completely agree. One factor is that your hand doesn't push in on the lock bar increasing the detent pressure. So with my left hand I usually get an easier opening action.

JonasOYes I hear you, but the problem is most frame locks do not have the reversible pocket clip. I do indeed like the right handed models that have a reversible clip.

BuckleGearWell, most ZT's have reversible clips, so maybe look for a ZT design that you like. I have a ZT 0450CF which is pretty much my ultimate frame lock EDC.
