Well, that didn't last long. Got the itch to tweak my Falcon again. But I do think this one is a small improvement. Unlike my Crux that I kind of gave that "salvaged from a house fire" kind of look. 😁 This one is splattered and dipped at 27 volt (three 9 volt batteries), and a glass of coke. Thanks for looking. Anyone else do any home mods? Let's see 'em.

JoskThank you. I actually redid the Crux last night also. They look great together as a pair.

BflyingDid you take the coating off first and if so how did you do it? I tried on mine with the coating, 3 batteries, water, tinfoil and baking soda and nothing happened. I am assuming that the coating has to come off in order to anodize it? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

BigDaddy5970Yes, didn't like the feel or texture of the original finish, so I didn't even try with it. I sanded it off and made it pretty smooth. Started with 220, then 320, 500, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, & 5000. Pretty sure that was overkill, but I was going for a more glossy look.
For myself, if I didn't want it smooth, I would most likely sand it down smooth like above, then re add a brushed finish. Probably with a Dremel wire wheel or stone.
I'm a little unsure of the use of baking soda. I made it work once, then the second time was a complete failure. And have no idea why. I've heard others that do not like using cola. Even some that have said it created pitting. But I've never experienced that. And have had the most success with Coke. It's worked, so I haven't really tried actively seeking a replacement.

Bflying I might have to try that next, I took mine apart again and decided to do a flame treatment on each scale and all the screws. It came out okay, but it is a little hard to see all the colors (red, purple, blue, bronze, etc.). I think this weekend I will pull it apart again when I have more time and sand it down a bit with 1000 or 2000 and try it again and see how it comes out. Here are some pics of it right now.

BflyingI really like the way yours came out, so I think that all the sanding paid off, even if it was overkill :)

BflyingVery cool mods. Well done. Do you have a tutorial you followed or have created to make such a nice modification?
What about that pocket clip? The one on the Falcon looks great. Keep it up.

Subiesaurus_R3XThe Falcon clip and spacer I took to a pretty high polish before anodizing with 5 batteries. As I mentioned in another post, there are already many people on YouTube and such with ano tutorials that do it way better than I could. But here is the closest thing that I have come to with this thread in blade forums. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/my-first-try-anodizing-ti.1457216/
In there I do have a couple links to places that I got good info from. And also the courage to actually try it on one of my expensive knives. It was done over my days off at Christmas last year.
The best thing I can say to anyone even slightly interested, is.......Do it! It's not really difficult, nor very technical. And if you don't like the result, you can always sand it off. Or re bead blast it if you have to tools. Off topic, but a blasting cabinet is actually on my non-essential want list.

Bflying So I ended up doing mine over again last night. I started with 400, then went to 800 and then finished it off with 1000. After that I cleaned it with alcohol and then flame treated all the titanium parts. It looks like one of my scales may have had an imperfection in it. When I flame treated it, a spot appeared on the titanium and it would not color like the other parts. It is smooth to the touch, there is no pitting so I am not sure what it is and why it happened.

You can see the imperfection better in this picture, it is in the middle at the bottom.
