$125 for an unproven Chinese knife with design flaws and questionable quality control? (detent/stiff action/clip issues) Why wouldn't someone buy a Benchmade or Kershaw that's 100% US made and works perfectly out of the box?

UncleMusketI wouldn't exactly say the manufacturer is unproven. Nor the designers. The issue with the clip was an unfortunate choice to add a little profile flair, that left a thin point of bend. And it appears they are standing behind the clip issue. The detent, action, and lockup on all three of my MD knives are absolutely perfect.
Those other brands have some great knives too. And both import from Asia. I'm not quite as familiar with the full lines of BM. Pretty sure none of Kershaws imports compare to top tier US manufacturers, but WE Knife does with most everything off their line.
In the end it's all personal preference. So glad we have the option of choice. And competition helps drive innovation and control pricing.

UncleMusketIt's WE knives so its a proven company. Buying American is great but there is nothing wrong with buying a product as long as its good. The Falcon is an ergo beast in hand and for that $125 price; it's worth the money. You know whats not worth the money? Buying an American made Benchmade Anthem for $400+ and having the blade miss-ground or the centering off that somehow left the factory.

UncleMusket*shrugs* mine worked perfectly right out of the box.
Not all Kershaw's are made in the US. They also manufacture out of both Japan and China (though, I've exhausted my reserves a long time ago for discussing the whole "you should buy everything US made, cuz 'murica" thing) Don't own any Benchmade's, but I do have a couple Kershaws, and I like them well enough for what they are....but side by side they don't even compare to this one. (and yes, these both are made in the US, and both would be in this price range if bought directly from Kershaw, but realistically they're a fair bit cheaper)
No one has 100% QC on a production knife... Or any other item for that matter. Things slip through, both defects and design flaws. What a company does to correct those issues once they're discovered is what matters to me. Based on the discussion here so far it seems like they're stepping up in a big way to make right on the clip issue.....I'd be willing to bet many bigger brands would offer replacements for sale, but not for free. Most consider clips to be a wear item and don't cover under warranty for any reason. (Can you imagine Kershaw re-designing a whole piece based off a handful of complaints? Or do you think you'd get a replacement of the exact same thing? I know which I'd put money on)
UncleMusketYou should look at it as "$125 for a 3-inch s35vn titanium frame lock flipper on bearings and a lock-bar insert? That's a good value."
WE knives has proven its manufacturing prowess so idk why people are still hating on Chinese knives as a whole. Ferrum Forge is based out of California so are you questioning American design? Doesn't that conflict with your nationalistic view on knives? I'm pretty sure Benchmade and Kershaw both had knives manufactured in China/Taiwan. So what's the difference here?
I really don't understand this nationalistic approach to consumerism. If anything it's bad for the consumers since companies from your own country won't face much backlash for putting out sub-par/over-priced products because of the nationalist consumer. If anything buying Chinese (or any non-US) knives can help the US knife industry evolve through competition.
