Sigh. Again, Massdrop, you screw me over. I had been thinking for a while I ought to pick up one of the FF collabs that I don't own presently, but there have been too many other cool knives released lately: first-run Pro-techs, Signature Series Socoms, U[nicorn]TX-70s, ZT sprint runs, Spyderco sprint runs, all Ti Kizers from MD, etc., etc., I simply haven't had the disposable knife $ to grab a MD/FF/We collab.
But I finally scraped together $175 that wasn't already allocated, and considering that amount and what I needed for my collection, I determined I'd buy a small, but not "micro" folder. I even looked at the Gent, but honestly, I didn't like it any better than I did when the thing first dropped. It looked burning to me, and a bit cheap. Yes, I know G10 is a perfectly good material for scales, but I've gotten snobby...
So after a brief investigation, I settled upon a ZT Sinkevich 0450CF, that's "CF" for "carbon fiber". Very nice knife, I was happy with it...until the other day when I se the Gent redone to fix the cheap look by adding carbon fiber. THIS was exactly the knife I was looking for; and it's less expensive, AND it comes with an FF handkerchief (I love swag; almost all my little daily sundries are branded freebies I've acquired over the years).
Seriously, if you'd have dropped this thing 24 hrs earlier I'd have been in the perfect financial position to pick one up, with enough $ left over for a nice custom Ti or Zi bead to hang off its lanyard. Oh well, at least its summer and the garden vegetables are coming in. You can make a heck of a good meal off of garden veggies, very cheap; totally free when they come from neighbors garden. They weren't going to eat 40 lbs of cucumbers anyway.
