The only thing prevent me from buying the base model is I don't know how big the pivot is. FF has a history of using tooth-thin tiny pivots w/ tiny bearings. I don't like that when I get buy $20 Chinese knives that use the standard 6mm pivots. A tiny pivot on these large premium folders just don't make me feel comfortable and causes blade-swaying.
This is my only issue with their stuff, especially with such thick stock. How likely is the pivot to be the point of failure? I think it would take a lot of stress to shear even a thin one. The only steel pin I have ever managed to shear myself was a steel pin on an XJ swaybar and that is MUCH more stress than I could ever put on a knife.
