Is this a joke? Many reputable knife companies will send replacement parts free of charge, even when only needed because they've been broken or abused by the owner. But here's a knife with a faulty design, and we're expected to buy a more durable clip that this knife should have come with from the start.

JediMasterHey @JediMaster - To give you a bit of context on why they are $15 and not free: We have already offered and shipped replacement clips to any member who submitted a support ticket reporting a bent or broken clip. This was only about 50 members out of 3000+ who received knives with the "faulty" clips. Additionally, we've offered $10 off to all members who bought models that came with the V1 original clip. Warranty policies vary between manufacturers - some do offer free clips, and some charge for them. However, those free clips are almost always bent steel, not milled titanium. The only brand I know of that offers extra milled ti clips free is CKF, which ships an extra clip in every box - but they charge about 2-3x the price of a Falcon or Crux, and once they stop making that model they don't offer any more replacements.

JediMasterI agree here 100%. These should be sent to all the people who bought the knife with the bad clip design. Making members pay additionally for a new clip is just bad business practice as far as I am concerned. I am actually appalled.

JediMasterBS. The clips that companies supply for free are stamped sheet metal that cost pennies (if that) to make. This is milled titanium. You think it costs pennies to make a milled titanium clip? I have the original pocket clip and carry the knife both in my regular jeans pocket and clipped to a cargo pocket. My clip hasn't deformed or anything. It actually does what it's supposed to do well enough for me to write this post calling you out. Just because they upgraded something that was fine to begin with doesn't mean you get it for free. Try to buy an aftermarket milled titanium clip and see how much they cost you. The fact that this clip costs all of 5 dollars to those who may feel they have a need for one is pretty danged generous. Go be an entitled baby somewhere else and don't crap on a good company working to please their customers. And for what it's worth, i personally like the design of the original clip. It doesn't tear my pants up, doesn't snag, is easy to take out of my pocket while still remaining securing enough in my pocket while hiking through scrub brush in southern California. Another personal note, i think the people who broke clips are likely careless or involved in very abnormal activities rather than there being a problem with the original design. But kudos to massdrop for making something stronger and not gouging us for it. I hope massdrop keeps churning out these collabs, i know massdrop isn't a knife company, per se, but danged if they don't have my support as if they are one. Most knife companies are trying to rip you off. All of the collabs I've seen so far are excellent examples of what can be done, and they're doing as well as or better than companies that focus primarily on knives alone.

RussBYes, milled titanium costs more to produce than stamped steel, but it's not like they're selling them at a loss. The shipping still probably costs more than the clip itself. They're profiting off the fix for something that was poorly designed from the start. Generally when there's a well known, widespread issue with a product, the company would try to fix it and not charge their customers for it. Would it cost them money to send out free improved clips to customers who already bought the knives? Yes. But it would simply cut into the profit already made on the knives. Doing so would keep their paying customers happy, increase repeat customers, and improve their brand image. That's just good business.

JediMasterWhat's the widespread issue? 50 out of 3000+ had issues with a freaking pocket clip? Can you do that math? I've had far worse problems from benchmade, spyderco, and zero tolerance for basically any knife I've bought from them and you're worried about a pocket clip? Grow up. Massdrop's products are gaining repeat customers, I'm one of them. If you don't like how massdrop handled an insignificant issue, then feel free to go to zero tolerance or benchmade and get far worse problems. But you'll be happy with a free pocket clip. Gtfo

RussBMine bent on my Falcon. I didn't report it because I was unaware about the reporting. I didn't abuse it or anything either. That clip has very little give before it bends. There's no telling how many more people there are like me who didn't report the issue. Also, FWIW, I've owned dozens of Spydercos, 10-12 Benchmades, and a couple of ZTs. Aside from a single minor F&F issue which I filed out, I've only had an issue with one of those (A ZT562), and it was addressed by the company for free (they sent me a replacement)

JonasHeinemanThat is untrue; I have submitted a ticket only weeks after the original drop and was told that clips would be buyable and not sent freely. The whole thing demonstrate a lack of true professionalism and put into question whether this product was "premium" to begin with. The clip were ill-designed and the company should just, out of respect, replace them for free.

AshtarallI'm very incredulous how so many of these pocket clips were so easily bent. Did people see the complaints and go out of their way to bend them? I've done some pretty bad stuff carrying this knife and it's performing exactly as I'd want. Are you people donkeys who don't know how to take care of your things? Good lord, buy a cheap piece of crap from autozone if you're so reckless. That way you won't be disappointed when you treat your tools like crap and they break. Even old school craftsman tools would scoff at these complaints.

RussBMine bent just from hooking and unhooking it from my jeans pocket everyday. I didn't report it but it certainly has been frustrating. I was never reckless or abusive with it. I just used it a normal amount. I am not sure why you feel the need to attack other customers and white knight for Massdrop.
