So my new socks turned up the other day. I’ve been wanting a pair of Merino’s for a while and I thought I’d give these a go. They are a bit small.

They are also like 40% man made materials, which gives them stretch but they are very hot sock that made my feet a bit stinky. I wouldn’t buy them again.

EmptyhideI was also worried and somewhat upset at first due to the small size, but they stretch enough that they fit just fine and are very comfortable. They're very similar in size/stretch/fit/feel to some of my Smartwool socks. And in the limited time I've had to try them out so far, they seem to be comparable to most of my various wool and wool/synthetic blend socks as far as performance (warmth, breathability, etc). Since it sounds like these are your first pair of wool socks, maybe you're just used to looser and lighter socks. While these are what I would consider typical/average weight for wool socks, they are definitely going to be warmer than dress or athletic socks and possibly even a bit more than standard cotton socks, but they also breathe and wick well which offsets that. My feet do sometimes get sweaty when wearing wool socks with boots, but it seems to be much less of an issue than it was with cotton socks. If you're in a warmer climate and/or are the type of person that sweats a lot and always has a fan or the AC running, these will probably be too much. If that's the case, I'd suggest trying out some liner socks. I have some from Smartwool and Wigwam, and I like them and prefer them on warmer days or when wearing boots. They do wear out faster due to being so thin, but I got quite a bit of use out of them, enough that I was satisfied. I also have a pair of synthetic Wigwam liner socks, which should be more durable, and they also perform well.

vertigo220Unfortunately, they have continued to shrink. I’ve now worn them maybe five times, and I can’t even get them on. I actually want a refund now.
