Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce the Massdrop x Fitsok Spectra Run Sock! We’ve been working with both Spectra and Fitsok for the last 6 months or so to bring you a thoughtfully designed, highly durable running sock. This sock has been tested to the extreme in the lab and out in the field to ensure it performs above and beyond. Spectra yarns have existed for decades now and are not uncommon in the outdoor industry but they are most common in military and law enforcement use, being used for bulletproof vests. Some exciting specs about Spectra yarns:15 times stronger than steelLight enough to float on waterNatural cooling touchPulls heat off the body naturally (great for a running sock!) After thinking of ways we can utilize Spectra yarns, running socks naturally came up in the conversation given the extremely high quality of our key factory partner Fitsok. They specialize in running socks and have years of experience in what materials and compression should go where on the sock body to make the best overall running sock. Currently, we are testing these socks at the internal labs at Honeywell’s facility and they are still ongoing, surpassing 80,000 cycles of abrasion testing as of the morning of July 13, 2018. Our history working with Spectra began in January of 2018 while at the Outdoor Retailer show in Denver. We spent our time at the show meeting with current and potential brand partners, as well as materials and trims suppliers. Spectra kept coming up as a key supplier to partner with, which prompted our reaching out. The team at Honeywell in charge of Spectra have been great partners and are so fun to work with!
