I have the elears and don't find them to be bassy at all. In fact, I think they can use more extension in the bass, not elevation though. To really get the sub bass out of them I use the Vorzuge Vorzamp Duoo/Duoo II. The bass boost really helps bring out the sub bass. The Elears are one of my few headphones that can handle the boost from the vorzamp. I'm glad I got the Elears, and at a good price. The Massdrops don't sound like they are for me. I'm very glad to see Massdrop offering items at this level though. Excellent.
Some ideas for mass drop;
A portable hi end headphone amp (with or without a doc), with tone controls, wifi ala poly built in, balanced out.
maybe even a dap, but not entry level.
A massdrop hi end speaker, tower, not bookshelf.

Talan7I agree the Elears are not too bassy. Their problem lies in the mids and IMO also in the highs. Mids are almost non-existant and highs a bit veiled. That results in a bit muddied sound signature. I wish other headphones had the Elear bass quality and quantity though.
