Okay, I see the problem now. Nobody wants to pay $799 for a headphone that can be had below $600 (street price) that is essentially the same. I incorrectly thought based on the graphs that we were getting a detuned Clear. Wrong. The Elex is basically an Elear with Clear pads and different cables. Yeah, go figure, Focal is not stupid and wouldn't sell a better headphone for less $$$. Also, who wants to wait 4 months for a headphone that they have never demoed! By that time the Clear might drop to $900 given the big discounts given on Focal headphones. Much prefer if MD sold the Elear for $599 with the Clear pads.

CompassionatorFirst, it has been stated several times that they didn't just swap the pads, The dampening on the driver is different and they are tuned to have a frequency response more similar to the Focal Clear and Utopia.
Second, you must be new here, ALL Massdrop branded products are manufactured after their drops are over and they ALL have had a long lead time like the Elex.

CompassionatorYes, I would also like to know where I can buy this sub-$600 Elear. I don't want some used and abused second hand Elear. Good condition Elears don't even go for that price on Reddit's Avexchange. Links or it didn't happen.

CompassionatorFocal Pads run $150 a pair so go right ahead build it yourself... for $50 bucks beyond your Elear + Clear Pads you get a balanced cable and some tuning mods... and no tax while keeping warranty... free shipping. Oh and I don't by any shape or meaning of the word "need" another pair of headphones so I can wait. I did the first round of the 02, THX00 as well...used to it by now!
