Hello All,
I own these HPs Monolith M1060, Fidelio X2, Sennheiser 650, HE 400i, Beyerdynamic DT770 (80 Ohms), Beyerdynamic DT 880 (250 Ohms), Beyerdynamic DT 990 (32 Ohms), MD 6XX, MD EMU (On Order).
AMP/DAC: iDSD BL, Fiio Q1, Creative Soundblaster E5 and source Fiio X3 Gen 2
Planning to buy Astell & Kern Kann. Sennheiser 800S Someday!
Finally thought and read a lot about Beyerdynamic T1 v2 and Focal Elex. I was almost going to order MDs Focal Elex. Until I saw the squeaking and cracking issues from many users using Focal Elear. Yet torn between T1 v2 and Elex. :|
Recommendations Please...

TerenzzZHello! I have a Beyerdynamic T1.2, I previously owned an Elear. I MUCH PREFER the Beyerdyamic.
I found that I enjoyed the sound out of the Beyer -- just sounded more rich and full to me. I also have to note that I found the Elear extremely uncomfortable. I am at my desk 6-8 hours a day, and I found that the Elear was super heavy and would press down on the top of my head. This is not a problem I've had with any other headphone, and I've had a few. I really think the Beyer is great and think it doesn't get enough love.
I honestly think the Beyer is a steal, especially now that it's down to the $700 range. As an added bonus it'll arrive before mid-May.

WESXFYeah t1ii is the most crazy steal in headohone market over $500, super comfortable, light, with among highest performance for dynamic driver headphones. It’s my first headphone over $500 and is still my favorite today. But I also own elear and ordered elex. I think these focal headphones have their meanings. Elear has all these problems: heavy, uncomfortable, a little weak mid range and heavy bass. But it has its own signature sound which is fun, beautiful, energetic and irreplaceable. Especially for vocals, elear‘s sound is pretty emotional. It just simply make you more into the music. And the reason I ordered elex is that they fix the problem of elear’s midrange and bass and nicely include a balanced cable. I think with these changes the elex will be more like a referenced headphone but still keep the sound signature of Elear. I think both of t1ii and elear are good headphone but actually they are not competitors in my opinion. Their sounds are so different and it‘s nice to have both two

TerenzzZNot many people have listened to an Elex, one reviewer here called it a baby Utopia, if true then my own preferences would lean towards the Elex than T1. I've never listened to an Elear or Clear, so I can't comment how similar they are to the Utopia.
When I listened to a T1 at a Beyerdynamic showroom, it struck me as a bit lifeless than both my HD800 and HD600. But it wasn't a fair comparison, my Senns are on my tweaked tube amp at home, the T1 was hooked up to Beyer's solid state A2, I've never really liked the solid state sound. Although when I listened to the Utopia, it was on solid state and I still loved it.
I've never worn either extensively so can't comment on their comfort, but sound-wise Utopia (or potentially the baby Utopia / Elex) will be king.

JackulaThank you for the reply. How about the weight that another user commented it being heavy and uncomfortable? I’ve a small head and find my head hurting on few HPs (because of irregular shape head with small bump :( )

TerenzzZWhen I auditioned the Utopia I didn't on the weight of the headphone, to me they were comfortable enough throughout the audition. But - discomfort doesn't really bother me and I'm not sure why. People find the Audeze LCDs heavy, they're fine for me. People find the Audio Technica M50x too hard on the ears, I only experience mild discomfort after a whole day of use. People said the HD6XX are too tight brand new, they were just right for me. Sorry can't help here :(

TerenzzZI have the Focal Elear and Clears. The Clears are a big upgrade but they do cost a lot more. The T1.2 are amazing and my favorites. From everything I’ve found on the Elex they will definitely be worth the price you will be paying.

MusicLoverThanks a lot for the reply . Based on the feedback iv received, even though I own most mid tiers. It’s still better to have both T1s and Elex. I was wanting to buy Astell and Kern Kann But looks like 2018 is going to be the yeat of headphones for me.

TerenzzZHow do you feel about the headphones you already own? I have DT880-250, T5p.2, and Clears. I've auditioned the DT990, T1.2 and Elears. I used the old DT880 from 2005 (when the 250 Ohm was the only version) as my daily driver for 10 years. I find that the DT880s a touch bright. It takes a bit of time for the fatigue to become noticeable, but it's definitely an issue. They sound to me like you would expect from the measurements on diyaudioheaven. The DT990s had way too much treble from the start. If you have no problems with those, then you will probably find the T1.2 fine. I like the Clears best, mostly because they nail the tonal balance that I want in a headphone. They can be fatiguing at times, but much less than the DT880s. Bass extension is crazy good for an open dynamic. If you like the Beyer spike, it might sound a bit laid back to you, though.
