Just got my Focal Elex :) First thing I have to say is... Sennheiser HD58Xs are *unbelievable* value for money! Don't get me wrong: Elex are way better under every aspect: construction, materials, feeling, comfort/wearability (despite their weight), they have more accurate tonality, much more fine detail, plenty of body, punch, dynamics, extremely good bass, stunning mids and very good, non-fatiguing, highs. And they're quite unforgiving with poor quality recordings. They do have, though, that "Focal sound signature" I immediately recalled from yers ago when I bought Focal's first attempt at headphones: the Spirit One (even though those were closed type). Can't describe it anyway else than... "muffled" without being muffled at all: they're instead perfectly transparent. It has, maybe, more to do with the "surrounding space" than with the sound itself: kind as if one was inside an anechoic chamber. It's more evident when listening at low level volume and kind of goes away when pushing volume up (without disappearing, though). These cans do like being pushed hard (the only aspect I'm not really fond of). Driving mines from a Pathos Aurium amplifier and... couldn't get them to clip on bass, as some reported (.... haven't pushed volume to ear-bleeding levels, though :-p )

pl_svnWould you suggest them for large ears? Momentum 2.0 & Fidelio X2 were annoying after 30 min. Inside Earcups are small and get hot quick.
