Would a proud owner of pairs of Sennheiser HD6xx and HD25/Amperior have an interest in these Ebony headphones? Any comments of some who have both (HD650/6xx and TH-x00)? Is it a worthy alternative for some types of music or for some occasions? Or would I be unsatisfied because the sound balance would not sound right to me? Anyone has both and enjoys both equally or not?

tessierpg8 weeks ago, nteinc asked the same question. "are these headphones worth buying if I already have an hd650?" Search below for the answers.  Set your browser to "find on page" for "nteinc" and you'll have to keep scrolling down to load more comments until around the 8 week timeline.

tessierpgHd 650 sounds cleaner, more transparent, full of detail. Fostex is the opposite, warm and punchy bass. Personally I enjoy listening to my denon and fostex a bit more than hd650, is simply more enjoyable. But when it comes to classical, hd650 will give me the thrill and goosebumps, which both denon and fostex are lack of.

ferminatedI just joined the Fostex TH-X00 Ebony drop 5 minutes ago.  I bought the Sennheiser HD650 last week.  Both are my first high quality headphones.  I also have the massdrop Grace m9xx DAC/AMP on the way.  Can't wait to compare them!  I'm a headphone noob and have no way to audition them in town.

ferminatedIt would be appreciated to have your comments when you compare both headphones. I think I will pass this time and maybe wait for the next Ebony drop ... For now I enjoy my HD6xx with my ipad/iphone and Dragonfly Red. My next purchases will be a desktop headphone amp (O2, Magni2 or similar) and a pair of HD600 on Amazon for office usage. Then after I may consider alternative headphones to enhance my collection...

dave.clarkI have both pairs, you'll really enjoy them. Have you looked into a Bottlehead Crack amp for your 650's? It's a kit, and requires soldering, but is amazing sound.

Enraged_WeredonkeyMy massdrop Grace m9XX DAC/AMP is still on the way to arrive, so I'm set for an amp.   I'm a bit nervous buying the Fostex because my style is mostly classical and I maybe should upgrade to the AKG K812 Reference Headphone which is currently available on massdrop.  I've got 4 days left to change my mind.

ferminatedI agree on the classical music goosebumps that happen with most sennheisers. It is mostly missing from the Ebony. This is my takeway: Vivaldi Remastered Autumn 1 goes to the Senns. Autumn 3 rules on the Ebony. I get chills from both headphones but for different reasons.

ferminatedBeing new to cans, I searched for the answer to this question without success... "How many cans can a cancan can, if a cancan can can cans?" "The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind."
