Just received mine, but won't be able to open it until I get home. Can't wait to give them a try! Will be listening on a Schiit Bifrost, feeding an Asgard 2. But will also try it with my Little Dot 1+. Will post some impressions after some hours.

hsuboxInitial (<5 hours listening time) impressions, from the Bifrost/Asgard2 combo: I'm enjoying these a lot so far. The build quality seems pretty top notch. They feel heavy in the hand, but are well balanced on my head. The ear pads are comfortable, but time will tell if I'll get sweaty ear syndrome with these. The sound is interesting, and different from what I'm used to. Some background, I enjoy the Grado sound (bass-light, very present mids, sparkly highs.. I own three pairs).
These are certainly better in quality and quantity of the low end than any of my other phones. I am not a basshead, at all. I tend to listen to classical, classic rock, jazz, indie, and other laid back music. This seems, to me, to be the appropriate amount of bass and sub-bass for me. There's some thump in the sub-bass, but they've done a great job of not having it overpower anything else. It's well-contained.
The mids are detailed, but not super present. The highs lack the sparkle that I tend to enjoy. They mix in well with the rest of the sound. I guess that's the summary of how I'd describe these headphones - the entire band works together well. There separation between different voices and instruments is not as good as my Grado RS1i (where I can easily isolate individual guitars on a track and almost tune out the others), but the TH-X00 presents everything all at once, and is well balanced. Soundstage is pretty good.
To me, these sound like sitting in a well-tuned movie theater. Worth the $500? I'd say so.

hsuboxI got lucky, I got number 7 which happens to be my birthday :-)
have only listened a few hrs but they do sound great. Use them with a Chord Mojo, thinking about making the cable shorter and terminate with a good quality 3.5mm plug to make it more usable with the Mojo.
