Just got mine, love them! absolutely cosmetically flawless, looks very classy. I much prefer these over the Purplehearts sound sig wise, they just had too much bass for me and too hot of a treble.
Coming from the Denon AH-D2000s --> Fostex TH-X00 Purplehearts --> Fostex TH-X00 Ebonies, I prefer these for sure and I got serial #374 which is weird for a 2nd run. I watched Z reviews video for these, I don't know know if my Denons were pre 2010 models but these are better in every way, its like the Denon is a normal hot chocolate and the Ebony is a rich hot chocolate topped whipped cream, chocolate syrup and a cherry on top, both are great but one has that extra to it. Same general sound obviously but the bass is reaches deeper has more weight to it, the quality is excellent, to me sounds tighter than the Purplehearts, the highs are more articulate and non fatiguing overall much smoother but not smooth to the point were nothing is detailed, songs that would sound harsh treble wise with the Purplehearts don't happen with these. Did I mention these look classy as hell?
My DAC is Schiit Bifrost Multibit and amp is Schiit Asgard 2, I think the Asgard 2 is considered a warm sounding amp so maybe that influenced the amount of bass the Purplehearts had.
Considering there's only like 1000 of these, doesn't get any more exclusive than this right?
