Massdrop needs to make a logo that isn't just their name. The positioning of the logo on this particular knife makes it look a lot worse than it does on the other models.

Ares78agreed. i said similar in another drop and a bunch of people jumped on me saying its their choice. yes it is, but still makes the products look like cheap promo items, not higher end stuff
DDroThe older logo, while bigger, was hollow so it was much less visible. The new logo is technically smaller but is more visible. This one just stands out so much more than the others (more so than the Buc) and I feel like Massdrop should really consider a new logo.

Ares78Yup.
The GAV logo on the other hand is creative and interesting... agree Massdrop's logo looks bad
DDroI think that's it. The Gavko branding makes the Massdrop branding look bad design wise.

Ares78The old logo was great and was doable in smaller sizes as the first run of Gents showed.

Ares78I normally roll my eyes when I read guys complaining about massdrop being on the blade. They are the ones working hard to bring us these awesome collaborations so they should be able to take some credit and get exposure to their brand. That being said... I do not like the font or boring billboard on the blade. Perhaps Massdrop could have a logo design contest. I'm sure someone could come up with something attractive.

WoodyBaltoI really liked the original logo, it was stylish and the lettering style was great. The use of negative space/ghost lettering left the logo looking good but not obtrusive.
I have no idea what these ghouls were thinking when they started their weird obsessive campaign against knives simply for having a logo.

DougFLA123The green pelagic, it's too cool to pass up. Plus the milled lock side is a great move.

T.willyThat makes three of us! : ). I held out for as long as I could. It looks like at $179.99 and $199.99 they’re going to sell about 600 units. I think that if they had priced the knives at $149.99 and $169.99 they would have sold 1200 units. I hope the prices don’t continue to trend up. Maybe I’m just spoiled by the $79.99 to $139.99 prices they were selling their collaborations at when I first joined Massdrop. The less they cost, the more I can buy! : )

DougFLA123Agreed, I was on the fence for a couple of weeks and still feel a little uneasy about the drastic price hike, but the amount of milling is a big draw.
I agree that if this is the new normal price range rather than the highest priced collaboration, it's going to be a hard slog for Massdrop to keep the train rolling. The fact that first production buyers are at least partially financing the production ahead of time really has to feel like a cool factor that delivers significant benefits to the initial buyers.
It has to feel like people are getting a sixty-hundred dollar discount or else the idea of buying a knife six months in advance (if all goes well) when few people have had a chance to check them out is just not a very good pitch that won't go over well.
I'm surprised that this knife hasn't sold more, because it's really cool and Gavko has a significant following, but that price is killing it. I think if they are going to do collaborations that cost over $150, they should consider a switch to M390 or something equally desirable in order to help set those models apart from the format of the Crux/Falcon/Gent.
If this one were M390 I wouldn't have a second thought about the price, considering the beautiful milling. It had better feel like a $300+ knife, and S35VN is excellent in the mid-hundred range. It's pedestrian and unimpressive at the $300 range.

OmniseedI agree, if this were made with M390, I would not have questioned the $200 price tag. It would have been a logical step up in price. I bet they would have flown off the shelves! Another bummer is waiting until December for delivery. I have to say...the milling of the handle on both sides of Pelagic and the aqua-blue color is very cool and unique. They got me again! : )

DougFLA123Yeah I agree the price and the long wait probably kept a S#!T load of buyer's away. Myself I've been trying like hell to save up enough to buy one of the Gavko Mid-Tech Spinner models but I keep buying other knives before I get it enough lol. These Thresher Models are much easier to afford.

T.willyI know, I’ve been trying to slow down on buying knives but I can’t seem to do it. I held off on this Gavko for as long as I could. I’m also buying the ZT0393, the ZT0609 and the ZT0470 later on this year. This is crazy man! My girlfriend wonders why we never go out! She thinks I own a couple of $50 knives...and she rolls her eyes at that! 😳

DougFLA123I hear ya there Doug. I had to put the booze down in 2007 after a lifetime of living life like it was one big vacation. So I know what it feels like to be addicted and I'm definitely hooked of all things sharp & pointy. The good news is I haven't woke up in the Ciry drunk tank because I bought to many knives once so I'm going to stick to this addiction it's a lot more manageable. 👍

DougFLA123Hey did you hear the news Cuch21 told me? Massdrop has decided to just use the letter M for there logo! 😲I made a point of asking them to consider changing it after Cuch21 told me he did so I guess between people doing that and all the nagitive comments on here about it they probably figured it was in there best interest. I think they really deserve credit for being willing to listen to there customers. Even though it makes perfect sense not all companies do that's for sure.

T.willyI never thought about the Massdrop logo all that much until people started to say things like, “you wouldn’t want it to say Walmart or Costco on the blade would you?“, and I thought, that’s true, I wouldn’t. The font they currently use is very bold. If they felt they HAD to spell out Massdrop, they could do it in a finer, thin lined font or something. If they just go with the letter M, I hope it’s with fine lines. The Gavko logo is very nice...thin lines that spell out GAV. It doesn’t jump off the blade at you. The Massdrop people definitely listen to their customers. They do hear a lot of complaints and they’re pretty cool about it.

DougFLA123Yeah I noticed on a knife drop not to long ago MD was talking about having a left hand option for one of there knives. However someone said it wasn't a true left handed knife unless the lock bar was flipped to the other said. What do ya know this drop they have the real thing for anyone that wants it.I don't think You even get that at some of the very top knife manufacturers. I know if I was left handed it would mean alot to me.

T.willyWhen it comes to knives, I’m glad I’m right handed! I try opening and closing my knives with my left hand from time to time (when I feel like living dangerously) and I’m a complete spaz. I’m sure if I had to I’d get better at it, but closing it you have to pull the lockbar towards your hand with your thumb instead of push the lockbar away from your hand...it’s very awkward for me and probably a lot of lefties. Good to be a righty sometimes! : )

T.willyOMG! That Ferrum Forge Pro Series Fortis 2.0 is gorgeous! I have to get that knife too! I just feel sometimes that when I buy from BladeHQ or KnifeCenter that I’m paying too much. If Massdrop, Ferrum Forge and WE Knife collaborated on one of these they could probably sell it to us for $200. Or make it with M390, and sell it for $250!

OmniseedThe Tashi collab proved to me that I would virtually pay anything to get what I want (and in multiple copies or iterations). But if every collab breaks 200 or 250, I’m screwed... :(
