Bought these a while back and tried them out on my new Ctrl keyboard, the actual key caps look beautiful but they feel absolutely terrible, it feels like there's a layer of dirt on every key cap, especially the letters, very very gritty, it's like how normal key caps would feel if you used them heavily for a year without ever cleaning them and this is straight out of the box. I am truly appalled that such expensive key caps could be of such a very low quality, I have owned many keyboards and have never come across something quite like it. Did anyone else have such an experience or did I just receive a bad batch? I did also get the thing where my modifier keys were Extra keys instead but I am far more concerned about the quality of the keycaps rendering them virtually unusable. I would really appreciate help figuring out whats going on here, would love to be able to actually use these @YanboWu .

dshlyugerDo you mean the slightly grainy texture on the keycaps? If it's similar to what you are seeing in the picture below - that is the normal DSA texture. Different manufacturers and different keycap profiles have different textures due to tooling design. If it's something different from the photo below, you might have received a problematic set.

YanboWuHey, thanks a bunch for responding so quickly, I'm not sure if it's visible but I'll take a photo and post it to compare. I'm well aware that different keycap profiles have different textures, for example the stock keycaps for the CTRL keyboard are slightly grainer then some of the other PBT keycaps I have but it's not very prominent and well within expectations/preferences. It's just these feel really grainy and I just can't imagine the layer of dirt feeling being a feature and within the normal variability of keycap textures. A post you made earlier mentioned you were doing Quality Control Testing on the batch ya'll received. Were there any sets in which you noticed a similar problem?

Here's an example, they really do look grainy and I can assure you that they really feel rough

dshlyugerPosting stock ctrl keyboard key caps for comparison, different plastic manufacturer etc but as an example I found those to be slightly grainer then I'm used to but we'll within reason. I do think the difference in grainemess is clear though.

dshlyuger@YanboWu do the caps look like you think they should? Can anyone post a closeup of thier caps so I can confirm the issue?

dshlyugerThat's the way they are in that set. Mine also have that rough texture but I like it.
dshlyugerHey there, the keycaps are actually normal and the finish is consistent with how DSA doubleshot turns out.

TekilaShotI'd be very surprised if they were as rough as they are on mine. I have noticed that it's more/less rough on various different keys in the set I received and on the lower end of roughness it's handlable, perhaps those are what you got? But I'm not kidding when I say that on the worst of the keys it feels like my old ABS keys but with like months and months of dirt on them, I can't imagine anyone enjoying that. I like PBT caps in general which tend to be on the rougher side and I can't type on these. I own the Ctrl keyboard, logitech/razer ones, a leopold and I have tai hao keycustom caps and no caps have felt anything like this if this is 'normal' I think people should really know.

dshlyugerDSA keycaps are textured; they all feel like that. I apologize for being blunt but next time you're in the market for some caps do research on them first rather than expecting everything but the design to be the same as the OEM caps your board shipped with. Heck, you can even order a sample set of blanks from Signature Plastics and it'll come before the 1 month group buy window here closes.
