These headphones are not worth the $99.99. Pass-go.

rkraigThat's a very good, convincing argument you have there. Can you perhaps sum it up in a few short paragraphs for us?

N147JKWell, I don't know about rkraig's experience, but I got a pair from the original drop. They've been sitting in a drawer for weeks now. In comparison to my Sennheiser HD 595s, the sound does not seem as balanced or detailed. I much prefer the Sennheisers for pretty much any genre of music. Compared to my AKG 545, these are not as exciting for pop/edm/rap type music. So in the drawer they sit, so I would wait for boxing day or black friday to get the Sennheisers which have gone on sale the last two times. However, if these were your first open back foray into quality headphones, they would probably sound pretty good.

N147JKI personally enjoy these headphones, but rkraig is right. There are better options at $99.99.
These headphones aren't the most comfortable and their treble is just a little to much. You can get more comfortable and better balanced cans for the same amount or even cheaper.
I was able to get past the treble by adding a thin layer of toilet paper in the pads. That brought down the highs to an acceptable level. For comfort, I can't quite say what to do there. I don't have a lot of money, so pad hunting isn't a priority. I've heard that the angled Brainwavs pads do a good bit on comfort and even sound.
ryan explains things more in depth, but this is coming from someone who is just starting out in the "audiophile" headphone world.

N147JKThey are too bright. I've got a pair of DT770's and these were brighter than those, almost to a point where they had almost no bass at all. Ear pads or not, the sound just isn't there, I'm no bass head, but I bought the HD6xx, I had a pair of HD600, HD650, HD580, and the HE-350 make me want to bang my head against a wall due to their tinniness.

rkraigPeople buy this headphone for exactly ONE reason only: the name HiFiMan which is associated with high-end planar headphones, so there is a belief you can get some of that DNA in these things.
Look elsewhere, they suck. Lo-fi dynamics. I very much doubt HiFiMan even makes them.

ryan.yu.7370how would you say the AKG M220 compares?
