Ph1l1ppPictures show these do not use the SMC connector HifiMan is usually known for. Seems to use a standard 3.5mm (or maybe 2.5mm?) jack into each earcup. Wont know the connector size for sure until we get them in hand.

Ph1l1ppThose are 2,5mm stereo jacks going into each earcup (no clue why it's stereo), on the other end there is a normal 3,5mm (1/8") jack.

N0gaiIt might be so that you can plug the cables in either side and not have it change which side the left and right is. Not sure if that's actually the case but it would make sense.

CharleshhartmannYa not sure who came up with it but my Silverado's have it like that too and even with the same 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable ends as well.

EniGmA1987May I ask how that exact model is called? I'd just like to know what a replacement cable would cost me if I somehow managed to break mine (which I do quite a lot).

N0gaiGo to hifiman's website and try finding one that matches, If there is nome wait for it to arrive and any cable that matches the HE-350s should work (If you break the cable the day it arrives, something wrong is right)

LucasPMagnoI wanted to have another option when buying the cable, because hifiman is located in the USA and shipping/customs are an annoying thing to deal with.

N0gaiIf they are dual 2.5mm and one 3.5mm there are probably tons of cables similar to it (search on Amazon or an equivalent for where you live)

LucasPMagnoI tried, but so far I had a really hard time finding a dual 2,5mm cable. I could still go with some ghettosetup with 2 seperate 2,5mm cables or something (the hifiman originals are absurdly expensive, at least the ones listed on their website right now).
But hey, I was told that the cable is really nice, so maybe I manage to not break it.

N0gaiAssuming they're dual 2.5mm mono jacks, you should be able to use HD700-compatible cables, which are widely available on Amazon, etc.

PacketCollisionZ-Reviews said they were 2,5mm stereo jacks, but I see no reason why mono shouldn't work just fine. Thank you!

N0gaiLooking at the picture in the drop, they do appear to be stereo. As mentioned above, the only reason I can think of to use stereo is so that you can't get the connection wrong (left in right and vice versa). If that's the case, mono probably won't work. I'll try to remember to test and comment when mine finally get here.

N0gaiCalifornia Headphone Co. doesnt make the headphones anymore unfortunately, and their cables were not very good anyway. I dont know where to buy a replacement cable other than HifiMan, but I just made my own. I can use better quality stuff doing it myself but it can be a bit tricky to solder a 2.5mm connector if you dont have prior soldering experience.

PacketCollisionMono should work because of where the rings are on the inside of the cups.

crutonjohnI'm going to wait until I have them to see if I need to replace the cable. Zreviews didn't hate the cable (and he's not shy about complaining about cables)

TheChrisAgeI was more concerned with length. I hate managing the excess cable that most headphones come with, and have had very positive experience in the past with this particular cable.

crutonjohnI believe it's a 1.2 meter cable that comes with it. All I know for absolute certainty is... I want them in my hands.

crutonjohnThat looks great! Thanks for the link. Seems like the Sennheiser HD700 uses the same cable type so you could *probably* use any HD700 cable

crutonjohnThe Sennheisers seem to use mono 2.5mm plugs on the headphone side, while these supposedly use stereo plugs, which might cause some connectivity issues. Not sure why it would use stereos...

PercyJaxStereo is used because it makes the cables reversible. That way you do not have to line up L and R like with Mono cables. Since the left can will use 1 pole and the right can will use a different pole. Its most likely that the cables linked with mono plugs will not work like you suggested. You will most likely get interference.
IMO the stereo plugs is a much smarter design.

crutonjohnThat cable is almost the same as the one I have here, and since my HE-350s arrived today, I went ahead and tested with the HD700 cable. I have no idea why Hifiman uses stereo 2.5mm jacks, but the mono ones work just as well. I checked that left/right were coming in correctly, and I also tested with the Hifiman cable and reversing the plugs does reverse left/right, so as far as I can tell, they aren't using the extra contact on the stereo jacks for anything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PacketCollisionI would think stereo 2.5s are easier to find and/or cheaper than mono 2.5s. Anything to bring the cost down...
