Just got them today. No issues besides 2 things. 1. Opening the box is hard without forcing it open. 2. It really smells like thick paint, I actually felt nauseous. Note, I have a broken nose too.
Where can I purchase spare cables?
smartedpandaThe ready and cheap option: search for "Cable Sol Republic" at eBay or other sites. Not sure about the quality of those though.
Or make your own cables. Order a couple of jacks 3.5mm and 2.5mm, some quality cable, maybe easiest is individual strands so you can split them to 2x2 before the cups.. there are tuts online for audiophile cables.
Armstrong01Bought "Sol Republic" cable ahead of receiving the HD350. Be aware that they do not work with the HD350. They are wired differently. Sol cable has 3.5mm ring going to both the tip & ring of the right 2.5mm connector and the 3.5mm tip going to the tip+ring of the left 2.5mm connector. The Hifiman cable has the 3.5mm tip going to the tip of the 2.5mm right connector only and the 3.5mm tip going to the tip of the 2.5mm right connector only.
Connecting the Hifiman cable to the HM350 yield a DC resistance of about 17 Ohms from sleeve to tip and from sleeve to ring.. Using the Sol cable yields a DC resistance of 0 from sleeve to tip and from sleeve to ring (indicating that the HD350 internally connects the 2.5mm left and right rings to their corresponding sleeves).
Bottom line, they don't work.
Armstrong01BTW, cables for Sennheiser HD497/HD412 etc. (3.5mm stereo plug to dual 2.5mm MONO plugs) and any aftermarket cables designed for these headphones work just fine.
rgremusAh good to know. Would love a diy guide how to wire a he350 cable replacement. But once I get mine I might be able to reverse engineer as you did and order the right parts. Especially which connectors should be 4 pole/3 pole etc., I shall see better in person.
